U-Haul® Reviews
Got a 20' truck for our large items and furniture. This worked just perfectly. The challenge I had withy U-Haul was that I booked the truck + furniture pads and a hand truck. The pick up location didn't have furniture pads or hand trucks, and they failed to tell me that prior to pick up. Had I not called ahead, we wouldn't have known. I had to call all over Atlanta to find a place that had furniture pads, which I then needed to rent separately, adding a lot of stress to the day before our move.
The truck itself was fine. Upon picking it up, I needed to obtain 6 blankets/pads. They were tucked in a pile in the front of the store. Six were pulled out, dropped on the floor and kicked over to where I was standing. No offer to carry them to the truck after being drug across a filthy floor. Then I was handed the keys. I had to ask for a rundown on the truck's use since I had not used one before. I wanted to make sure I knew how to properly open/close the door and use the ramp. When I asked for this overview, the service provider acted as if I was imposing on his time. Whereas, upon return of the truck in another location, the Customer service was much improved
2 days before our move we were called and told our truck size was not available. We had to take a smaller truck which (fortunately) worked out. On the day of the return (to a different city, which we advised them of in advance), we got a call saying the location we were assigned to had too many vehicles in it and couldn’t accept our return. We were told to go to another location almost 25 minutes further away from the first. The condition of the truck was fine although they don’t sell padlocks at their rental locations (even though we’d been told they did) so that slowed things down as we had to head off to buy one.
The truck was good, and the price was the BEST, but the equipment ordered was not in the truck. And I was in a hurry, so had to go without what I ordered. The online check-in helps, but then you still have to stand in line inside to get the key, so not sure how the 'no need to stand in line' thing works.
