U-Haul® Reviews
The truck was great, clean, mechanically sound, just the right size, comfortable and fuel economical as well as reasonably priced rental. However, the new after hours pick up service left much to be desired. It was quite frustrating and took an extremely long time, over an hour- with two tired girls in the car.
The truck was good. It drove well and sucked allot of gas, but at least it was unleaded and not diesel, but the licensee failed to assist in any way. The truck was empty of gas and I was afraid I might not make it to the gas station! A $29.75 gas credit for me cause it was empty!!! And bring it back with a quarter tank, like I can make such fuel consumption calculations as I'm driving. This is what POed the most. The windshield was so full of bugs I had to clean it before driving. The licensee failed to show me any functional aspects of the 26 ft truck. The back of the truck look blown out with a leaf blower but the cab was clearly not. Oh ya, it's the big truck out there! We'll see if I get credit for fuel if more than a quarter tank in the truck when I turn it in!! I guess I can put up with this BS since Penske wanted +$1,000!!
The U-Haul place I rented from was ok. Not great. (Scenic Hwy, Snellville, Ga) Customer service did not seem to be one of their priorities. The truck itself was old and not in optimal condition. There were no ropes/belts/nets in the truck to secure items during the move. The cab was very high, and extremely difficult for a disabled person to get into. When I returned the truck, I had to wait a long time to check it in.
The U haul was not at the gas station that was confirmed on my order two weeks prior. I was told to go to a second gas station 15 blocks away and the truck was still not there. I needed to order and pay for a new truck at the second gas station. If I was unable to do this I would have missed my window with the movers and lost > $500.
Review for Sean's Movers in California. It started with a hire for helper mover...We found Kush Movers based on Pack Rats relationship - hire a helper. It all started off o.k. (other than 1 guy was 30 minutes late). Sean and "Pops" (Sean's 79 year old father) came to our home to help with our move. Sean is the brother of the Kush moving company owner and "Pops" is their father. All was going well for the 1st 3 hours when we were under Kush's allotted move time. It was not until the 3 hours came to and end and we found ourselves in a terrible position as Pack Rat did not recommend the correct number of pods for our move . This put us in a terrible and vulnerable position. Sean said, I can help. I have a side business thru u-haul where I can move you across the country. He was so proud of the 1 review with 5 stars - his selling point to us. Unfortunately, we were in a position where we had to trust that they could help us solve our problem, as we could not find another viable alternative. My husband asked them to be fair and not take advantage of our precarious situation. He is very polite, with a lot of yes ma'am's and sir giving the appearance that he is respectful. Were we ever wrong! We agreed to use him to load up the remaining items that did not fit in pods to Colorado. We discovered he was not licensed, bonded or insured, which required us to obtain insurance. Once we got to Colorado, we called to see if we could push out the delivery by We had agreed on a price before they moved our possessions to Colorado - but Sean could never explain in detail what the charges were for.. He gave us estimates and told us he would give us all receipts when he got to our home. Well, that proved to be a joke, as he estimated gas to but $800, but it was $500, but he required that we pay the additional $300, as that is what he estimated. We also noticed when he arrived that he had a much larger truck than the one he used at our home and shared that he had another drop in Arizona before Colorado. He could not answer why the bigger truck and if we were paying to haul someone else's possessions in our truck. The cost was based on him delivering our belongings and unloading 2 pods and the truck. He unloaded 1 Pod and the truck. We unloaded the other pod ourselves. No consideration or flexibility in the cost. He also requires cash - no credit cards or checks. So, as a customer, I am running to Chase at the 11th hour to give this clown the balance of the move $2500.00. Mind you he would not help us at our most vulnerable time and asked us for $5400 cash upfront at onset of move. We told him we would pay for tickets to get him home. We told him the flights to book as they were $109.00. He booked tickets for $140.00 (x2) and required that we pay him for his flight selection. Sean is dishonest, a crook and frankly gave U-Haul and Kush movers a band name. We were stupid for not trusting our instincts to find an alternative solution. Kush in general was good, but if the owner sends his brother or dad (Pops), buyer beware. As my husband stated after we told him to leave, "you can't argue with stupid." Sean did Kush Movers a huge disservice. Laguna Niguel to Colorado - Nightmare1
Amazing Customer Service. Had another name brand company we rented 2-months prior (not naming any names but starts with a B!) and they bailed last minute and Uhaul stepped in when I called last minute to rent a 26-foot truck for a move across the USA. Thank you for your professional service Uhaul. Excellent truck and noted all flaws with the truck ahead of time.
Gave 1 star b/c I had to put 1to be able to comment. First the APP didn’t work properly to be sign in and get code for lock box to get the key. Took an hour dealing with that. Then the truck was inoperable. Took several more hours to find someone that was able to get road side assistance to come fix it b/c we refused truck until it was properly fixed & in good working order. It took several more hours to get that taken care of. In all it took a little over 4 hours just to get the truck to my house so movers could start loading it. Which, by the way the movers sat there waiting on us. Went thru their paid up time plus 2 hours that we had to do at the extra for and was being loaded. It took almost 9 hours we had to pay for when 4-5 was all that was needed. This is just for the crew hired to load. Since it was so late the crew waiting to unload at my final destination had to be canceled and rescheduled for the next day.
Got a 20' truck for our large items and furniture. This worked just perfectly. The challenge I had withy U-Haul was that I booked the truck + furniture pads and a hand truck. The pick up location didn't have furniture pads or hand trucks, and they failed to tell me that prior to pick up. Had I not called ahead, we wouldn't have known. I had to call all over Atlanta to find a place that had furniture pads, which I then needed to rent separately, adding a lot of stress to the day before our move.
