Using this type of storage for staging items for out of state move. They put the container where I needed it to be.

The container: I used one 16' unit for a 1350 sq. ft. house and did not bring a lot of bulky items - no mattresses, no bookshelves, no sofas and only one bed frame. There were garage items but the container was still about 30% too small to fit everything I had hoped to take and I ended up having to throw away lower priority items. The container has a load limit of 3 tons and, upon pickup, the driver stated it was 4 tons (I believe this was gross, including the 1.2k lb container.) He let it slide but they are supposed to require you to empty the container until it meets the weight requirement. Had he refused to take the container as-is, I would have abandoned Pack Rat and rented a truck at the last minute. Delivery/Pick-up: The drivers I interacted with were great and very skilled at maneuvering and loading the container. The downside is that the container delivery system requires at least 50' of open pavement to line up where it will be delivered. My new house has a steep driveway and, although there was plenty of room to maneuver, the skid system wasn't strong enough to push the loaded container off the back of the truck to unload. The driver had to get creative to level the truck so that the unit could be dropped. Communication: 1-800-Pack-Rat is terrible with keeping the customer informed of what's going on. No reminders for the day of delivery or pickup and no way to track where my container was. They would send emails when logistics had been scheduled but not when actually happening or what date it was actually schedule for. Value: The reason why I'm giving 1-800-Pack-Rat a two star review is that their service ended up costing more than expected. The actual cost are adjusted from the quote due to factors such as fuel costs. My base cost went up more than 10% from the quote. I had the container stored for 3 weeks once it got to the location and this cost also went up beyond the initially quoted amount by 15%. Be sure to note that your storage time clock starts from the time of the first empty drop-off, not the time it arrives at the destination facility. Lastly, it took over three weeks form when my container was picked-up in Phoenix to when I could access in Portland. If was doing a door-to-door move without interim storage, this would have been completely unacceptable.

Delivery and pick up of the containers went smooth. But when our closing date got delayed and we needed to make last minute changes there were problems.There is a disconnect between customer service and the storage department that sends out the trucks to pickup the containers. You will get an email confirming pick up to storage but that may not be true if the storage department is full. You need to double confirm (it takes multiple phone calls) to be certain the time you arranged for pick up is actually booked.

The Packrat customer service people are very friendly on the phone but they are incredibly incompetent! My phone contact changed because of the move. the people on the phone made a point of verifying the phone number with me every time they talked to me but they NEVER gave the new phone number to the facility or the driver at my arrival destination! As a result the driver was unable to reach me by phone because he called the original number. They left the container at my apartment complex 9 buildings away from where I needed it! Do not give this company any more money! They don't understand the importance of communication and they won't apologize when an apology is warranted (much less a refund).

i ordered a 12 foot container and they upgraded me to a 16 foot. only negative was that it was a little banged up and rusty

Excellent container that did a great job except for one thing: a 16' container does NOT fit furniture and stuff from a 2BR, 2BR apartment. I didn't even have a dining room table and my stuff didn't fit. Order a larger container if in doubt or you will be scrambling when it doesn't fit.

PackRat was fine. You can negotiate the price down. Make sure you are clear on the exact date for delivery because they will tell you the date they get it at their own facility, but you will get it days after that if you don't nail it down.

Fast delivery of the pod to the house and supplied with enough blankets to protect the bigger items.

Pack Rat was awesome. They communicated every step of the way and they met all their timelines. I will definitely use them again... ps... they were about 1500 cheaper than Pods and when I called Pods to cancel my order, they wanted to renegotiate the price.

PackRat: perfect for size & distance. Container kept all my goods dry and in place. Communication was excellent via email or mobile phone throughout entire process. The 30 days to fill was a great option. The pick up & drop off was spot on at both ends. Yes, I will call them for future move.

Containers were in good condition and clean. Furniture pads provided were clean. Drivers for pickup and delivery were great. Scheduling though the central office was a bit frustrating, since they could not give precise times. One of our two containers was WAY to heavy. The driver refused to load it. He set it back down, and I had to do a hasty unload, sort, and reload, leaving many of the heaviest boxes out - for the next phase. I learned that it is really easy to exceed the weight limit if you have a lot of heavy boxes with books and tools. But I must say, the driver was really nice about it, and we were able to reschedule to get the container picked up the next day, so the move was not delayed.

The driver was on time, placed the Pack Rat unit exactly where we asked, and picked it up without me having to be there. Easy, very professional, and I would use them again.

Had to reschedule my second container, due to high demand. That was very inconvenient, but they comp'ed me for that. The people are polite and courteous. They call to verify every move they make, whether its a delivery or a pick-up.

Excellent service and customer care. My only negative is that they could not collect the containers as soon as I would like, so I would recommend making sure you book the collection in advance.

The containers were delivered on time and were picked up exactly when they indicated they would be.

So far I have only had the storage containers dropped off and picked up, but so far 1 800 pack rat has been great. They have really good customer service. I thought the drivers were great. The storage containers were in great condition and very clean. I chose 1 800 pat rack because I found they were less expensive than PODS. I had to rent two containers for my move and I believe I had savings of 300 dollars with pack rat.

We have not completed our move as yet. The initial drop off of the containers is on schedule, however, the retrieval has been delayed most likely due to the holiday week. However, we have not received an update via phone, text or email as yet. Hopefully, everything will be delivered on time? We shall see.

These guys were a little bit cheaper than PODS ($3000), so I went with them. This was the best option for me since I'm moving states and don't have a destination address yet. I needed to just pack and store my stuff for a least a month.

Good service. Container driver was very thorough although I was expecting at least an hour's notice before they came. Both times I was given 20-30 min. notice of arrival.

While we have not completed our move, the service thus far has been first class from all.

The pod was delivered and it was in excellent condition.

Excellent service, and very reasonable, except that you have an all-day window. If you want to choose morning or afternoon (morning is up til 1pm) you have to pay an extra $50. I paid that extra $50 for them to deliver the pod at my new place in the morning and then the driver called to say he was in the area the evening before and could he drop it by then. I said yes to accommodate HIM and yet still paid $50 for my next morning delivery that didn't happen.

Pack Rat was good, I paid extra for a certain delivery date, they didn't make that so they refunded the money. I had to reschedule the unloading people. In the end it worked out ok.

My stuff was "delayed." On the arrival date, they realized it was still up in MN (and I was living in the cone of silence in FL). They were also confused with the original drop-off in Mpls. downtown. They couldn't seem to understand that they had to get the meters hooded and that no, I did not have a driveway. It was right in downtown. On the upside, the guy solving my problem and picking up the pieces at the end was super; very good; attentive; and he got my belongings delivered to me and the empty container was picked up the very next day.

This work much better than expected and saved a great of cost. The container was clean and in excellent condition. The representative made arranging for the container very simple. They answered all our questions. It was comforting knowing our property would not be comingle with others. In addition having the only security key for the lock was ideal. Property arrived without damage that could be caused by temperature changes. I would recommend PackRat without hesitation.

The truck drivers who dropped off and picked up our container were great and the container was in good shape.

The drivers were very professional and friendly, and did a good job of placing pods in difficult positions in two different apartment complexes. They called prior to picking up and delivering and made the whole process much easier. Also felt the pricing was much more fair than the Pods company.

Rat Pack containers are great. They are clean, the size is good for the price, and I used them to store it as well. I rented 2 - a 16ft and a 12ft. My only complaint is that one of my scheduled deliveries did not come until the next day, and there was no notice given. I received a call at 8pm and was told the driver was on his way. Never showed. They did bring it out about 9:15/9:30 the next morning. If you are counting on the delivery date to start packing schedule them the day before you REALLY need it, so if they don't show up you are still ok with movers. I did call the customer service number to let them know that wasn't great customer service. They apologized and removed the "transportation fee" for that specific container. I am pleased with that response and would recommend them to friends and family.

So far we have only had the collection of the 2 containers, as they are being stored before delivery. The customer service while booking the container was excellent, they arrived and were collected right on time, and the containers were both spotless, with clean blankets supplied for packing. Extremely happy so far.

We moved 20 miles and are renting the container . So, far our experience has been very good.

They have serious issues with communication and scheduling, but the containers were clean and in excellent condition. They were also considerably less expensive than PODS for the same service. Two 16' containers were the perfect for size for a three-bedroom home.
