1-800-PACK-RAT® Reviews
This company was very professional from start to finish! Every time I called them or they called to confirm the pick up or drop off, every employee went above and beyond to help! Used PackRats because they had weekend hours to take booking and we were able to go to local Lowe's to see an empty container. The container seemed sturdier from PackRats because we were storing furniture for 3 months. Would use again!
Everything is great when they are working to get your business up front. The price I was quoted was definitely the best of all the options I had. However the time frame I was given while booking was suddenly changed after they had my full container. I called the day it was supposed to be delivered and was told it would be another week. At that point I was already without my belongings for 2 weeks. I couldn't have it delivered on the day they wanted to reschedule so they tried to charge me a fee to change the date.
other than a little schedule difficulty at move in, this was move using PackRat was seamless and a very good moving experience. We had 3 containers moved CA to CO, no damage, no issues. If you are going to use PackRat, just be sure that your containers are delivered a day ahead of any paid support requirements. Service was great, timely and at a fair price comparatively!
This only covers the delivery and pick up of the container at my residence and not the delivery at the destination. However, if the delivery at destination goes as smoothly as the the first part I would give Pack Rat a very high rating. So far they delivered the container, pads and lock just as promised. Everything done according to the schedule and on time.
The best part of the whole experience was Derrick. He was on time, professional and polite. He stayed in touch with me when needed. I would definitely recommend using him. The main problem we had was that one truck was down and in the shop. That delayed our time for us to start unpacking with the movers we hired. The other thing we had a problem with was a broken lock. I would recommend two things... Get another truck in LA and look at getting better locks. Good job, Derrick. I would use PackRat again if I knew they had another backup truck.
Our experience with this company has been horrible to say the least. Their customer service is terrible, they do not follow through with anything they say. Their sales department is quick to get you off the phone and I had to make multiple calls to their service department. Each time, I'm put on hold for over 10 minutes while he look into things. I finally spoke with a supervisor this week after speaking to over 7 representatives. The unit was supposed to be delivered on a Friday and we waited home all day for it but the driver contacted us at 6pm and told us that he couldn't make it. They did end up bringing it early Sat. morning in time for our movers which was the only good part. When I called on the following Monday to confirm the pickup that I had scheduled with the original order, there was no record of it. They scheduled it for the following day and then charged me $55 for a next day pick up. That charge is being refunded. The charges I've seen do not match any invoices I've received. The company is a complete mess. The communication between the corporate office and the local office is horrible and they blame the local office for all of the misunderstandings. The Albany office has a new manager and he came to pick up our unit himself on Tuesday night. He has obviously been in a management role before and he apologized up and down for our experience. He was wonderful and the saving grace of this entire experience. I researched many companies with portable storage units before picking this company and I did it because they say they're backed by Lowes but my suggestion is to pick any other company out there. They have to be better than 1800PackRat.
There were a few minor hiccups with dropping 2 boxes at my residence, but I was overall very pleased with these guys. The first guy was a rookie driver who basically assured me the second guy could take care of fitting 2 large boxes in my narrow 2 car garage. Well, the veteran driver was able to do it--but he worked hard to make it happen. They were super friendly. There were also some minor communication issues cause 1st driver said the 2nd driver would have my locks and of course the 2nd driver didn't know anything about that--luckily he was prepared and had 2 locks he could provide. The only other issue was that when I opened up one container the packing blankets provided were all wet so I had to purchase some from my hire a helpers.
1-800-PACK-RAT was recommended to me by a friend because of their prices. My hours were recently cut, forcing me from my home. I had to find somewhere to keep my property until I could make other arrangements. 1-800-PACK-RAT was the answer. Grant in their base office was very knowledgeable and reassuring. Grant my arrangements, gave me measurments, answered all my questions and was available on call back. HAYS actually delivered the container, maneuvered and dropped the container PERFECTLY into my assigned parking space in my apartment complex. Excellent job! Would highly reccommend! I attempted to answer how long I will be using this container in the below but would not accept "indefinately". I have no time frame at this time.
What a good option for those of us that cannot afford to hire a crew to move across the country. We did the 16ft Packrat & managed to fit a 3BR home into it with the help of HireAHelper. They also worked with us & stored our belongings locally until we could afford to send it across the country. Staff at the customer service line and driver, too, we were very satisfied & would certainly recommend tPACKRAT to anyone.
First off: Note that everything arrived in fine condition. But then again I did the packing! Also the original pickup was exactly within my very tight parameters. BUT: I paid from RI to Miami, FL. When I ended up buying in Bradenton, FL (much closer to RI than Miami.) I had to pay ANOTHER $1036 to bring the container to where they had stored it for 5 months (@250/month) near MIAMI. Therefore with them ALWAYS store near your origin so they can't rip you off for another COMPLETE move. Don't let them fool you on the extra time to deliver to your final destination after the move: They took the full 10 days to move from Miami to Bradenton, an in-state a mere 243 mile move!
We have a tricky driveway but Justin from PACK-RAT was able to maneuver the container so that the bay door was perfectly lined up with our garage and garage door. The container arrived at the time they promised and was picked-up at the time it was promised....so far, the experience with PACK-RAT has been excellent. We shall see how it goes on the other end!
1-800-Pack-Rat is a really effective, easy and logical way to move your household. All of the people we cam in contact with were easy to work with and they all really know their stuff. Our long distance coordinator, Ginger Ablonsky took every opportunity to go above and beyond for us for which she should get a raise!! There was one mishap in the move, a community mailbox was bumped and it had to be replaced. 1-800-Pack-Rat has stepped right up and will pay the HOA for replacing the mailbox. I would very happily (and have already done) recommend this company to friends, family and even folks I don't know!
1-800-PACK-RAT has been the best. The pod was delivered and picked up as scheduled at both ends. The pod was in storage for 8 months. All billing for both the move and storage were accurate. I had some extenuating circumstances related to my move and everyone at 1-800-PACK-RAT was courteous and went above and beyond to help me. Kudos to 1-800-Pack-Rat.
