The overall service was fantastic - PODs was what I needed to complete my move. However, the initial quote process was not thorough and I got a slightly smaller POD than I should have. The initial drop off also had some difficulties with the driver calling out, however the mechanic that stepped in did an amazing job! PODs was always responsive to questions and everything happened and cost what it was reported to. No hidden fees, no hidden agendas.
Very difficult to communicate with them. I had to do same day pick up and they were unable to help me get a narrower delivery time so I could coordinate movers. The movers pulled it off and saved the day. It can’t be that difficult to accommodate same day pick up if you offer it. When I reserved the pod, they assured me it would be fine and I would get a one hour delivery frame. That was a lie.
This was needing to be a quick move. I did most on the phone with PODS at first to explain my timeframe. They worked with me backwards meaning the dates I wanted the PODS delivered to unload came first and then we came up with the dates the empty PODS would be delivered. This worked perfectly for a very smooth transition.
Pick up with city service was great. I used 2 movers to load an 8 x 8 container in 1 hour. A downside of the storage aspect was that everything was packed so there was no way to access anything in between when the container was picked up in one city and dropped off in a small town 2 months later. The drop off was horrible. They don’t give you the arrival window until the night before (so I was scrambling to get movers set up) and then when the truck arrived they said I didn’t have enough parking spaces reserved even though 2 spots was enough previously. And they won’t pick up for 3 days???!!! On top of that my delivery date was 1 day into the next month for storage and instead of prorating it by the day they charged me for the full month. Not using again. Total cost for 8 x 8 POD: $600 transport fee + $1200 storage fees for 2 months + $150 delivery fee
There are two pickups at each location (the move-from location and the move-to location). PODS has met their scheduled time/date for one of the four. The PODS container has been empty and sitting in my driveway for four days now and I just received an email saying that it won't be picked up for another five days. I am not sure if it is coincidental that the first delivery was the only one that was on time, but it sure feels like once they have you locked-in to their business, they no longer care. Also, their customer service is a call center overseas with no ability to transfer to someone who can actually help. That is anything but service.
