PODS® Reviews
PODs are a great way to move but there is not much flexibility in dates if you don’t call far enough ahead of time. They placed the POD exactly where we wanted it. The driver called ahead to ensure he was putting it exactly where we wanted it. We did unload it early, but there was no flexibility in trying to have them pick it up sooner. Our items arrived the same way we had packed them. Nothing was damaged. I would use a POD to move again for sure.
Both pickup & delivery of our POD were both done first thing in the morning which is what we had requested. Both drivers were happy to help in anyway they could. I didn't know when ordering the POD that it made a difference on which end the door was on, and yes of course ours was delivered the opposite of what we needed. Both in NY & NC they were more than willing to move it so that the door was facing out without any complaints. Would use PODS again as they understood moving in and out of an apartment complex the necessity to get them picked up from the parking lot and out of everyone's way. Definitely would use again..
They came when the said they would and worked with us to locate the PODS as close as possible to where we wanted them. Although they told us we would probably need 1 to 1.5 PODS based on our size home, we probably needed 3.5, so we needed to rent a large storage unit in addition to the PODS and move a large number of items ourselves.
Thus far the PODS team has met all our expectations. They inform us as to when our drop offs and pickups will occur and have always met their estimates. They worked with us to place the PODs in our most desirable locations in front of the house. When we had to order a third POD unexpectedly, they were able to accommodate our needs. Excellent service thus far with an estimated 2 months to occur in storage and then delivery to our new address.
PODS was truly a mixed bag. The initial signup process, drop off, and pickup process was a breeze, but after I reached my destination things changed significantly. Despite telling PODS I was moving to an area of Chicago where I'd need City Service, they nevertheless transported my container to where City Service was not offered. When I first called to schedule my delivery, I was informed that it'd be an extra relocation fee given the mixup (despite it being on their end). When I appealed the fee, I was told it'd need to be escalated. I was then recommended to have the container unloaded at their facility, but after determining it would have cost more to do that (given the cost of transport) than accept the fee, I called back and scheduled the City Service delivery. I tried once more to ask for the fee to be waived and, oddly enough, the rep I talked to at that time did so cheerfully. When it came to my delivery date, despite scheduling a 2:30pm delivery, the driver came AT 11AM and was constantly calling and pressuring me to start the unloading process early. Not only did I have work to attend to, I explained that the movers to help me unload couldn't arrive until between 3 and 4pm. I suggested he come back at the scheduled time of 2:30pm, but he chose to remain on site nevertheless. At 2:30pm (while it was pouring rain), I walked outside to introduce myself and explain again the situation with the movers, to which he gave looks of obvious annoyance. I asked him why he arrived so early and he told me most of his clients want early deliveries, implying that I should have, too. Upon opening the container to check on my belongings, he admonished me for having hired movers at all, saying that he could have helped me unload what was in the POD. (Nevermind that unloading assistance wasn't in the service agreement whatsoever.) I ended up unloading several boxes myself waiting for my movers to arrive to expedite the process as I nevertheless felt bad for him. I felt bad, that is, until the movers from Logan informed me that he had talked to them personally and he knew all along they wouldn't be able to come early. It was truly an uncomfortable process and I am not sure I'd ever go with PODS City Service again.
The didn’t deliver on time, even though I called 2 months in advance, 1 month in advance and 1 week in advance for morning delivery, guaranteed between 7:00 am and 10:00 am. It was delivered after 4:00 pm. We moved from Oregon to Florida and when you add up all their costs a full service moving company would have been better.
We used PODS containers (three 16-ft and two 8-ft), from mid-August through October, to move across the country. It gave us the flexibility we needed to move our household possessions, accumulated over a 4-decade marriage. The PODS drivers were all quite skillful at navigating our challenging driveways in both California and Tennessee, and professional and friendly as well. We are storing 3 containers for up to a year and having the other two delivered to our house in TN.
