Truck rental experience was great, but the truck itself was noisy and difficult to control.

The only reason I say "good" rather than "excellent" is that I got a bigger truck than I wanted, but it's not the fault of Budget. Apparently, Amazon and FedEx are scooping up all the 10- and 12-foot trucks for their busy season, so I had a 16-foot behemoth. That said, the people at both ends--pick up and drop off--could not have been nicer, and I'm kind of tickled that I got pretty good at maneuvering that big truck! Drove all the way from Youngstown, Ohio, to Boston without incident. I also loved that they had a list of helpers for loading and/or unloading from which to choose.

The truck had 150,000 miles on it and it ran rough and lacked acceleration. They should have paid me drive this noisy rough running equipment

Overall they were average. I called the day before we were scheduled to move to confirm my reservation and they said "oh no one called you? We had to move your reservation. Then they never transferred my reservation to the other rental office. Thankfully a truck was available.

Exactly what I needed at right price

Rented a 2017 27’ truck with 111,000 miles for a cross country move. It was in terrible worn out shape. The drivers seat was collapsed, the truck broke down due to a bad starter, the car hauler was beat and the tires straps were not long enough to go around the factory tires on my 2018 Jeep Wrangler. Steer clear of Budget. Better options out there.

Old truck but it made it to Salt Lake City

It took me nearly an hour at the Budget facility to pick up this truck. One headlight was out, and the other had so much oxidation on the lens that one could barely see the light. It seems like Budget likes to keep the costs of their protection packages secret until its time to pickup the truck. I called both the national number and local office several times prior to the rental, and no one could give me an answer. Their protection costs are considerably higher than their main competitor, making the original quote sound like a great deal, while it's actually not so good when factoring in the excessive insurance costs.

Driver seat was damaged, truck shook like a washer machine at 50 miles per hour, the ramp was off it's track and the truck broke down just before I returned it!

Definitely a cheaper option. You get what you pay for! But it did get us from A-B!

Truck was ready on time, drove well, and given at a fair price.

Truck was in very good working order. Did not experience a single issue while driving the vehicle.

This was a 26' truck with a lift gate. The truck work correctly and was in very good condition.

Truck was ready on time and had everything I needed. Drop off was clean and professional and I'd use them again certainly.

Penske was awesome, but I have to say the choice was a last minute option. I originally went with Budget Rental; I booked the truck over a month in advance. Unfortunately 17.5 hours before I was supposed to pick up the truck, they said it was no longer available. I spent four hours trying to get a resolution with Budget but kept getting the run around. I was even told if I would have read the fine print, booking the truck didn’t guarantee the rental. I was guaranteed call back after call back and nothing. If I can offer any advice, please know you get what you pay for. Budget’s customer service and professionalism was the worst I’ve ever experienced. They really screwed us and took zero responsibility for their error. Very disappointing and cost us a lot of additional money and stress that we didn’t need the day before move day. Stay far away from Budget.

Never again....lost drive shaft in the Smokie mtns. Took 2 hrs for tow truck to show up....lack of responce from road side kept us in dark....took all day to get the replacement truck and helpers to unpack and repack VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE

This is second time I've used Budget Truck rental for the same one-way, cross-country trip (Los Angeles to Denver). My first experience was perfect, but this time around, not so much. I was late getting my truck back to Budget in Denver due to weather, and couldn't get a call through to the receiving location until around 11 AM to let them know. Talked to the national office instead and WOW - worse customer service call I've ever experienced. ME: "What's the late fee for the truck?" HIM: "You'll have to get that information from the receiving location." ME: "But what do I do when I can't get the local office to pick up the phone?" HIM: SILENCE. ME: "Hello? Are you still there?" HIM: SILENCE. I still don't know if he hung up the phone or just chose to ignore any more questions. One positive note: I did finally get hold of the receiving office and they said they can work with me on the late fee of $25. So, nice.

The reservation person didn't know the actual size of the truck which presented a problem for me, but their staff on site was fine.

Pretty good truck, much much larger than what we had expected. Wished moving blankets would have been clean which is the main reason for only four stars.

Awful experience with the Budget truck company in Allston, MA. We booked our 16ft truck a month in advance and were told upon arrival that they had double booked us. We were left with a 12ft truck which ended up having a leaky roof. We ended up bringing the truck back and going with Uhaul in Norwood, MA which was an absolute life saver. Highly recommend Uhaul on Providence Highway in Norwood - good people and they were able to accommodate a 24hr reservation on such short notice.

Comfortable ride, but truck was a bit beat up.

Older truck with horrible driver's seat. Budget didn't even provide me with a lock to lock up the rear door once full of my belongings. I was left scrambling at a hardware store trying to find a lock ($20) for the extra wide type lock needed. Waste of money as I'll never use this type of lock again. Budget really should provide a way to lock the cargo door at a minimum.

Budget seems to keep it's insurance costs secret until the truck is rented. Probably to keep customers in the dark until rental time that thier costs are triple that of thier main competitor.

Cost was good, personnel efficient and friendly, the truck wasn't in the best shape. We needed roadside help and while we waited an hour, the technician was great and had us on the road again in about an hour. We have used Budget trucks before and, if needed, would use them again.

They worked hard and smart. Also agreed to move something to our daughter’s house a mile away from our home since we had an hour of time left. Nothing was damaged and they were organized and respectful.

Good price for the truck. Easy pickup and drop off.

It was easy to schedule several trucks. The equipment was older, but worked well. I would definitely use them again.

The actual people at the rental place were great. The 1-800 budget customer service was no help.

Truck had no AC and a broken fuel gauge.

We were given a truck with 2 bad tires, both on the rear passenger side. 1 with no air and 1 with 40 lbs. We had road service come out and place both tires. Also had a 4.5 hour wait to get the truck.

The pick-up and drop-off locations were conveniently located. The truck was clean when I picked it up, and the blankets & appliance dolly were inside as I had ordered.

Insurance requirements were not made clear prior to showing up and the required proof of insurance paperwork was excessive and required information that even the operators at USAA had trouble answering without having to do research. All of this could have been done in advance. Equipment was old and cab smelled bad. Counter person was nice and helpful.

Bumpy but what can you expect

Booked online and was quoted one price but when I picked up the truck, the cost was different from the online price. Make sure you check your final costs more closely.

Rented a 16 foot truck which was enough to move my 2BR/2BA condo. Rates were competitive but truck’s inside windshield was very dirty and the alignment was terrible. Had to steer left to go straight. Picking up and returning was easy, no issues.

Truck was huge and way too big for what I needed. Wish they had smaller trucks than 12' available. Great new customer discount though and return was pretty simple.

We use Budget to make our long distance moves for our moving company. We would highly recommend them!

When my son picked up the truck, he was notified that the catalytic converter had been stolen the night before and insisted that my son would have to take the truck because even though there were 7 other trucks on the lot, that none were available. My son did not have a choice because as we were moving out of our residence, the new owners were moving in. We moved from PA to MD, so my son took the truck after being coerced into taking the most expensive insurance which then made our expense twice what it was quoted. The truck burned more gas then normal since the catalytic converter was missing. Also, my son had to drive three hours listening to the horrible noise the truck made.

Truck ran great and no major issues other than I picked up an absolutely filthy truck that had the most uncomfortable seats.

Very efficient. The 16" foot size was perfect. The instructions and contract were clear.
