Penske® Reviews
Penske saved us after Budget tricked us into thinking we had a truck reserved and drove an hour to find that *maybe* they'd have one that night. Customer service *hopefully* would be able to call back in a few hours to help find a truck in the area. Frantically called Penske customer support, they hooked us up with a truck at basically the same price and closer. The staff at the rental location were super nice and helpful too.
Fantastic customer service too bad they gave us a death-trap truck with an almost broken axle and suspension. As we were driving the truckload was titled to the right. We called PENSKE and they came out to check out the truck. We were told we were "Good to go to drive." When we called again 2 days later in New Mexico. We were told it was hazardous for us to drive. They switch trucks, and the loaders could careless about our stuff. Removed blankets, dropped bins that broke, and shoved our stuff into the truck.. UGGH! The speed to drive is toggled to only go 65mph. How is that safe when you can't go the speed limits across the USA?
I would have given a 5-star if it wasn't for the additional cost for gas during drop off. I read through the contract and there was no mention that we need to fill the tank before we return. It a bit challenging to gas up a 26ft tuck in a residential area. But other than that the truck performed very well and we had no truck issues.
This is my third Penske rental and the first time I was not happy with the truck rental. Penske definitely did not check this truck out before renting it to me. The wipers barely worked and I had to use them a lot during my 13 hour trip. I drove through rain, sleet, snow and a blizzard. NONE of the charging ports worked, so I had no way to charge my GPS or phone during my move which was a nightmare and I felt unsafe. Way too much money spent for such a shabby truck.
Penske is good as always. I had trouble with the truck though when I rented it, but I had to switch it with another one as the prior one was causing a lot of cabin noise. Penske also do not provide any EZPass facility and as I tried to use mine, someone had already registered in EZPass with that same plate. So registering your ezpasses is going to be hard. I wonder why Penske cannot simply provide an EZPass service like other car rental do. Not a good experience, but I have gone through EZPass lanes anyway and I'm expecting Penske to send a bill with 25$ additional charge for violating EZPass.
Penske called and cancelled my reservation 30 minutes before I was scheduled to pick up. Then told me that I could go get another truck over an hour away. Zero compensation. Coincidentally, when I finally got the truck it had Indiana plates on it which is exactly where I was going. Abhorrent customer service and even worse business practices. I will never use Penske again.
