Penske® Reviews
A truly horrific experience from beginning to end. Booked a truck, wasn't in stock. Got a truck, was the wrong truck and couldn't hook up our car. Was about to switch all our stuff from one truck to one with tow capabilities when they came and said the equipment wouldn't support our Jeep Liberty. Drove across the country in a terrible truck that had the seal broken on one window and it sounded like a wind tunnel for 24 hours of driving. Scarred for life.
Overall a fair price and had the truck we wanted in stock (26 foot). Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because the truck was listed to have a loading ramp but ours only had the lift gate which slowed our move down considerably. Good company, just make sure if you want a ramp you double check that the truck they are giving you has the ramp.
no instruction in regard to proper use of car tow rig, I asked several times for basic details in regard to securing car to the tow rig and received same answer each, you will figure it out it is not that complicated. For the first several hours we were stopping every 40 miles or so to re secure straps. Also figured out several hours into our trip to leave car ignition in Acc position to allow front wheels to turn with tow rig.
I've used this truck rental company previously, but would have to think twice about using them again. Upon arriving to rent the truck and trailer and checking the equipment the trailers tail lights were inoperable to include the signals although the tag on the trailer read with a tag attached thereto stating it was good to go. The rep that was handling this matter later that day had another trailer delivered this trailer had a flat tire. So a third trailer had to be acquired. The truck had not be cleaned and was very dirty inside the cab to include food wrappers inside the tray panels on each door. The windshield wipers were poor as well and would not completely clean the windshield when it rained.
Truck & staff were very good, but the moving blankets I reserved were not available. This would not have been a problem except I was not informed of this until I showed up to get the truck. This required an hour of driving around (rural area/early morning) to find a U-Haul firm open to rent us blankets.
The truck was clean and we had no issues with it. We reserved a 22 foot truck, but were given a 26 foot truck. The two 22 foot trucks that were brought in to the location earlier that day both arrived with issues. We were given the choice to take the larger truck, or they offered to call around to get the smaller one from another location. I appreciate that they gave us options and did not send us out in a truck with issues. Thank you!
The truck that I drove had a defective fuel gauge indicator on the dash panel. I was charged for 3.5 gallons of diesel fuel @$8.00/gallon even though I filled up the tank prior to dropping it off at Penske's location ! The fuel gauge did not read less than a full tank! I called them and the charge was not reduced 100%! Not using them again!
I rented a 26’ truck with a Diesel engine, from All-Ways Moving & Storage / Pittsfield, MA. Joe at All-Ways was wonderful in getting me a truck ASAP when I realized the 16’ U-Haul I had already rented was not going to do the trick for a 2-location load-out with a 2000-mile cross-country drive - the morning OF THE MOVE. A quick, efficient vehicle checkover, & a quick rundown on driving this beast, put us on our way.
