26' truck, brand new with lift gate. Well worth the extra money for the lift gate, as we had to move some heavy machinery.

Penske is the most economical way I've found to move your stuff when you have a lot of stuff. Their trucks are large and economical, especially when you have to return the truck in a different city. Booking is super easy online, and they have promotions and coupons throughout the year. The check-in and check-out process are straight-forward (although a bit time consuming). The only downside is that not all trucks are picked up/dropped off at actual Penske locations, but at partner companies like hardware stores or storage rentals. It is in those places that check-in might take longer than most, because they are also attending to their other customers. So when you make your reservation, try to stick to Penske locations if possible! It will make things much easier.

Truck was fine. Could have used more info up front about driving challenges with 26' diesel with trailer combo. Drop off was tricky due to tight parking at used car dealer, but they were patient with us and stayed late.

Picked up truck at a local Home Depot on a Saturday morning, so they were extremely busy and there were issues with my truck arriving on time and subsequently being assigned to another customer. Took a while to get everything worked out and never got the hand truck and blankets I requested, but the truck itself was excellent - relatively new and easy to operate with no issues. Penske did call me and adjust my rate for the inconvenience. Return was easy.

Truck ran great. Long ride but truck was comfortable.

Our truck had an engine service light and they were very helpful in getting out to us and checking it out.

Good truck rental service

I was able to get truck earlier on short notice.

First truck had a high pitched whistling noise that i did not feel comfortable driving for 12 hours. The Penske desk was understanding and found a replacement truck 30min away which they left out given it was after hours. The second truck was much newer and nicer. I give 4 stars due to the first truck being older and some kind of belt issue (I think), but I would give 5 stars for customer service

My brother is a retired truck driver and he said check engine light and other lights kept coming on. Also he said he had hardly any power pulling the heels. He likes Penske and was very disappointed in the truck

Several things wrong with this rental (picked up at Z Tech in Naperville): I purchased furniture blankets when I reserved the truck. When I arrived to pick up the truck, they said "they were out". I asked how soon they could get some, they said "tomorrow". Very poor. Second the inside of the truck (in the cab) was very dirty. Floor mats muddy, etc. Next, I found out on the road that the truck had no windshield washer fluid. Why would you rent a truck to someone in the upper midwest in winter with no WW fluid. And as a last insult, I returned the truck less than full and was told the charge for gas was $8 dollars per gallon. Again - EIGHT DOLLARS PER GALLON!!!

Excellent equipment. But getting the pads that I ordered was a challenge. Though the flimsy felt pads are almost worthless, enough standard furniture pads were included to make the move go well.

Penske Truck. Top shelf. Wouldn't use anyone else. Nothing more to say.

Check in and check out was simple and quick.

Reserved furniture pads but when we showed up for the reservation we were told they "ran out". Unacceptable and put our furniture and items at risk during the move.

Have used this company for three previous moves. This time unfortunately, truck had not been serviced correctly and the DEF fluid ran out 300 miles into a 1200 mile trip. Roadside assistance answered quickly and got a hold of a service which came in an hour to fill the DEF Fluid.

Have rented 5 Penske's in the last couple months for 2 moves. All the trucks worked well.

Great trucks for long moves. There was something clearly wrong with the driver side wiper blade, so I wish the quality control was better, but otherwise, I had a good experience.

They were very informative and made it extremely easy to pick up and drop off.

The rental outlets should definitely review the actual operation of the diesel trucks when they rent them since there are distinct differences in operation from the standard gas vehicles, this was not done when I rented.

Excellent service on pick up and drop-off. A bit pricey for a one-way trip but the truck was comfortable and the check-in and check-out process was easy. One negative was a loose brake light connector to the car carrier that required I return the truck to the pick-up place for repair before heading off to our destination. Another problem was the car carrier ramps did not return back into the carrier. It took three people to lift and toggle the ramps into position which was extremely difficult in the rain after loading a 26 foot truck.

Very helpful--found me a 22 ft. truck when none were available two days before the move.

The truck was great. Very clean, ran like a dream even up the passes.

They even released the truck to me as I got there about 30 minutes earlier than my appointment. The truck was clean, had a full gas tank and they let it warm up for me while I was doing the paperwork. It was cold out and a warm truck was a blessing!

We live in the Catskills. Rented the Penske truck out of Kingston the evening before doing the move and returned it directly after the move. They provided a solid low mileage 26 foot truck with no hassles.

Truck was very clean and ready for my trip. No problems with the truck, it handled very well and was pleasant to drive.

Great service when trouble occurs.

They were ok. They had the wrong truck and they said that they need to get one from Garner. That would take too long. So I had them get me a 16' unit and glad that all the stuff fit.

Very easy to work with, friendly staff. We had only a half mile move, but a 26 foot truck. I would use Penke again.

My second one way move using Penske, and everything went super smooth. Pick up was quick and efficient. Drop off smooth with no surprises. Penske made right on a few minor glitches. Truck was a newer model - with lots of electronic gadgets - really nice to drive 913 miles. Recommend them highly.

truck was not there and they were not helpful in remedying the situation; had to rent from Uhaul that same day and luckily truck was available

I prefer Pensky trucks best.

My only disappointment was that the roof of the truck leaked. Fortunately it was loaded with plastic totes and washer and dryer in the area that leaked so there was no damage.

No issues with the truck itself but the pick up and drop off were a mess. When I went to get the confirmed 26' truck on my scheduled pick up date and time, I was informed that it was given to someone else but they had a 16' they could give me...(really???). It took them an additional hour to bring another truck from a different location. Once reaching my new location, I was told to drop the truck at a specific location, so I filled up the tank and went to drop it off....turns out that location did not accept Penske trucks and had not for 5 months. I called Penske, was given another location (5 miles away) and when I dropped the truck there, they tried to charge me for the gas not being full.

Everything went smoothly and would use again

They didn't have the Hand truck I ordered so I was forced to buy one.

our total mileage was 6. we filled up the truck before returning, and it put in 3 gals. so it evidently wasn't full all the way at time of pick up. can't tell me we used 3 gals. to do 6 miles. Was still charged the mileage cost. Never used the hand dolly.
