Penske® Reviews
The agent in Daly City did not inspect the truck. We were given a truck with a cut fuel line. When we fueled up, gas sprayed on pavement at station endangering the lives of over a dozen people. Oakland Fire Department was called and put sand down. Penske sent agent who confirmed fuel line had been cut by thieves to steal gas. He claimed to have fixed line. Next gas station, gas again poured out of fuel line all over pavement, again creating a dangerous HazMat situation. Penske sent service to remove a fuel line from a used truck at a Home Depot in Modesto, CA. Service person arrived and advised against this. Instead, after being stuck that night, the next day went to Penske in Modesto and they installed new fuel line. This worked. Natasha, the roadside person, said Penske would reimburse us for hotel, gas, and the rental price of truck.
The only snag in the truck rental was the truck was not at the location I intended to pick it up from. Whoever rented before me dropped it off at another location and Penske didn't take it to the specified location. Since I had walked to the pick up location, I had to wait over 2 hours with numerous phone calls, for Penske to bring the truck. Once I got it, everything went fine. The truck handled nicely. I have never driven a loaded truck this big but will say it was much easier to drive and deal with than I anticipated. The check-in process was very easy at the drop-off point.
Rented from a Home Depot, the customer service wa excellent, but they did not have the 2 doz pads I had requested so I had to go pick them up. They also just basically show you the truck and the car hauler and you need to figure out how to hook it all up. There was an online video to watch on how to hook up the trailer and put your car on it I was thinking they would assist more.
The new climate storage unit was great! The 26 foot truck was easy to load with the long ramp and driving it was no problem. I reserved for 6 dozen and received 3 dozen...they were so thin that you could see through some of them. They were for all practical purposes...a waste of money!!! In the future...I will not use Penske rental trucks for moving for this reason. I value my home furnishings...and...it seems that Penske does NOT!!!
We got a 22' truck from Penske, along with a car trailer, and everything about the rental went very smoothly. We hired a professional driver to drive it for us (Robert Burke from Acumen Driving) and added him as an authorized driver on the truck, and he picked it up at Penske with no problem. They don't have a limit on miles like other rental truck companies, and give you several days to complete the trip.
We scheduled a 22’ truck for 9:00 am. I called to let them know we were running late and would pick up between 10:00 and 10;30 am. Arrived at pick up point just before 10:30 truck was not there. They turned up at 11:15, with a 26’ truck. Apparently I was supposed to be happy with the bigger truck, I’m not. It took a lot more effort to secure everything as the truck was way to big for the amount of stuff we had.
I picked up the truck at a Home Depot - the gas tank was not quite full and it had not been swept. there was a lot of spilled concrete mix in the floor. The truck leaked when it rained overnight before we left from NY to FL. Luckily I noticed the leak and drove to the nearest Penske center where they quickly repaired the leak. We had no issues on the drive to FL.
Penske's customer service representatives are extremely professional and very knowledgeable. They made making the arrangements easy when given a two-day notice for making moving arrangements. Pick-up and drop-off sites were equally easy to work with. Our rental equipment was in excellent condition with no mechanical problems experienced. I would highly recommend Penske.
I rented a 16' Penske truck and a tow trailer for my 2018 Chevy Equinix. I made the reservation over the phone and the woman who took care of me was great. She made sure I received the AAA discount. The trip from Kansas City to northeastern Pa was a very good trip. The truck ran great and I had no issues at all. Although the truck only had an AM radio, it has 2 plugs for a cigarette lighter and one 110 receptacle on the dash board. The guys at pick up and turning back in were great. Great job Penske and you were cheaper then U-haul. Thanks again
