My previous experience with Hire-A-Helper was great.... this time not so much.
They arrived on time. Only one, (Eli) was eager to get the job done. The other were slow and even though I'd used these same containers with the same furniture twice before, clearly didn't want to hear how the previous H.A.H guys accomplished it. One even expressed how he needed to beat the traffic back to Charlotte. In the end I told them I'd finish with smaller boxes that were left. Imagine my surprise when I went back upstairs to find heavy things that were left out. I tipped all 3 guys $100, but only one really earned it.
Now I have to pay local movers to repack the second container

Communicated well on arrival time. The movers friendly, strong, and very careful with my belongings. Very knowledgeable with assembly. Took a few extra hours than expected to get my things settled in but they were flexible . 100% would use there services again.

On the day of the move, I called the movers multiple times to confirm the job, but none of my calls were returned. I finally reached someone around 2 p.m. and clearly explained the services needed — an in-home move with light assembly, specifically removing a table from a crate and attaching the top. I also asked that the movers bring tools for the job. The dispatcher informed me that the team would arrive closer to 4 p.m. rather than 3 p.m.
After 3 p.m., I received a call from the movers stating they would be delayed further, arriving around 4:15 p.m. When I asked why, I was told one of them had to drive to South Carolina to pick up his business partner before returning to Charlotte for the job. This made it clear they were not properly prepared or scheduled for the move.
When the movers finally arrived, they were late and completely unprepared. They did not have tools for the assembly required and claimed they had no knowledge of it — despite the fact that I had communicated this information both in writing and over the phone to HireAHelper and directly to the moving company. They used my moving blankets, dragging them through the mud to the point that they had to be thrown away. They were unable to move the rugs as requested, and their overall conduct was extremely unprofessional and embarrassing, particularly given that the work was taking place in a client’s home.
Fortunately, another worker at the home was able to assemble the table in their place. However, I am now hiring new movers to reset both rugs and move the furniture back into position due to the poor quality of service provided.

Three young men showed up to move my furniture. I spoke with AJ earlier in the week and I explained to him that I had large heavy furniture to move. The men arrived with no tools, no moving equipment, and wanted to know if I had a truck. Luckily I had a hand truck they could use and I managed to find some tools for them as well. My couch is a sofa bed and the frame was bent during moving. (probably because they didn’t have proper moving gear.) the front of my chest of drawers was scratched also, so I told them to leave the last piece of furniture and I would get someone else to help me. The young men worked hard but when I asked why they were ill prepared, they told me they only get a name and address to show up. No instructions were given to them. I called AJ after they left and questioned what I was told. He said they know to go pick up what they need and that he would issue me a credit. I still haven’t seen a credit on
my charge card yet. The young men worked hard but I was very disappointed. In hindsight I should have hired a moving company.
