In 14 military and corporate moves, this is the most damage we have ever experienced. It's more damage than all of our other moves combined. Now we are in a battle over insurance to repair the unnecessary damage.
The crew leader clearly seemed like an experienced, professional mover and did his best to manage the team. Unfortunately, the rest of the crew appeared to be there primarily for the heavy lifting and lacked the experience needed for a long-distance move.
At the start, they estimated there would be plenty of room in the truck for our furniture. By the time everything was loaded, the truck was so poorly packed, leaving tons of overhead space, that they could barely fit the loading ramp inside. It became obvious they didn't know how to properly load and secure a truck for a cross-country move.
The biggest disappointment was the packing. We supplied ample moving blankets, and the crew also had plenty of wrapping materials, yet many items were not properly wrapped, padded, or secured. As a result, belongings shifted during transit, rubbed against one another, and arrived with unnecessary damage. This should have been preventable with proper packing techniques.
Another surprise was that the crew didn't bring a dolly, so they had to hand-carry everything. This made the move less efficient.
To make matters worse, the FIFA World Cup was on during our move, and the crew repeatedly stopped working to watch the matches. Those interruptions slowed the job and came across as unprofessional. That on top of showing up a half hour late, taking a half hour for lunch, which meant we had to pay an extra hour of overtime!
The crew leader worked hard to keep things moving, but he couldn't oversee every detail. In the end, the lack of experience among the rest of the team showed, and we paid the price with damaged belongings. I can't recommend this company for a long-distance move.
Firstly, we note that an insufficient quantity of straps and furniture pads was provided. The only protective material supplied by us was tape stretch wrap. Given that approximately 90% of the load comprised furniture rather than boxed items, we resorted to stacking furniture to the best of our ability given the available resources.
Secondly, while our vehicle was equipped with three dollies, these are typically not utilized for furniture, particularly when items are not adequately covered. Due to a shortage of blankets, your husband specifically requested that we not cover the desk. Nevertheless, furniture is generally designed to be moved manually by professionals, especially when navigating stairs and doorways.
Thirdly, you were not subjected to any overtime charges. You were billed solely for the hours our crew actively worked, with all break times duly deducted.
Also, the crew extends there appreciation for your generous tip and lunch provided by you due to the fact you were very pleased with there services.
