Called movers 9 A.M. (requested 2 movers for 3 hours) - told them we lived on Military base (D.C.) - was told they had two available members to assist that had proper IDs and could get on base to help.
* E.T.A was communicated (via phone call) moving members for 2 p.m. - Movers did not show until 4:15 p.m.
* Movers could not get on base - 2nd member failed military base "background check" and was removed from base.
* Movers said they could go pick up "another guy" to fill in for the guy who failed the background check.
* Movers arrived back at Military base gate 6 p.m. - background checks passed after 30 minutes (one older gentleman & one younger guy)
* Movers arrived at location for unloading Penske truck at 6:30 p.m.
* Movers helped until 9 p.m. and said they helped for 3 full hours and left
* Movers only helped for 2.5 hours and said they'd come back the next morning to "help" finish but would charge for 1 more hour - (I declined)
* Movers only put about half the items where requested - did not come with any items to assist in moving (i.e. dolly/gloves/appliance dolly)
* I helped movers entire time - If I wasn't physically present, took them about 5/10 minutes per item to move and return to truck for me to give them more items.
* Paid $450 for 2 movers for 3 hours - got 2.5 hours of "help" - had to finish unloading the rest of the truck myself to return next day - was not finished with "move" (i.e. truck unload) until 2 a.m.
* Paid for 3 hours of "help" and entire process with movers cost 12 hours

Your request came as a same-day, last-minute call, and we were able to arrange two movers within a two-hour window, which is often difficult—especially for a military base job requiring clearance. We communicated an arrival window of 4–6 PM, and after the base access process we began unloading at approximately 6:06 PM.
Because this was on a secured military installation, access procedures are outside of our control and can sometimes delay entry. Once cleared, our crew worked continuously and assisted until around 9:30 PM per your request. The job involved very heavy commercial bins, equipment, and furniture that had to be carried into a small three-story home, with most items going to the upper floors.
Despite these challenges, two movers unloaded approximately 90% of a 26-foot Penske truck in about 3 hours and 15 minutes, which is a significant amount of work given the size, weight, and layout of the home. We also offered to return the following morning to help complete the remaining items, but you declined.
We always aim to be transparent and helpful, and we appreciate the opportunity to assist even on short notice. We wish you the best in your new home.

I paid for 2 movers. What I got was a mover and a helper who was clueless unless told what to do. The result, my new home walls and corners scratched up, and apt damage to one wall they will make me pay for. At least they showed up and completed the move. It shouldn’t have been as expensive as it was, so I wouldn’t use them again.

1. Declutter and Downsize Sort through belongings decide what to keep, donate, or discard to minimize unnecessary items. Sell or donate, having a garage sale or donating usable items to charity. Pack Smart Label boxes clearly Mark the contents and the room where the box belongs. Pack an essentials box set aside a box with important items like toiletries, medications, snacks, a change of clothes, and phone chargers for easy access. Disassemble furniture If possible, they should take apart large furniture
