When our trailer was loaded by a different company in Maryland for our move here in California, it took 2 guys 4 hours. This was LOADING a 28' trailer. It was in Maryland humidity and heat. We had a number of heavy furniture crates, boxes of course, and no appliances. It was hard work and we appreciated the Tetris-style packing that company did and their use of ratchet straps to assure our belongings wouldn't shift and be damaged traveling across the country. The detailed packing took time. And yet they completed the job in four hours.
TMA movers here in California only had to unload requiring ZERO TIME to pack the trailer and strap. They had to take items down not up a ramp and 95% of our items were loaded directly into a garage 30' away. And yet the 3 guys we contracted for 3 hours could not complete the task. We had to pay an extra hour each. So in total we paid for 12 hours. We had to repeatedly ask them to not just carry one box at a time but use the hand trucks to stack 3 or 4 boxes for each trip. One box at a time? What kind of movers have to be told to use the hand trucks??? If they had been taking a box to the trailer edge for another mover to get it standing on the ground, avoiding the ramp altogether, that would have made sense and been efficient. But no. It was one-potato-two-potato, one guy using the ramp to carry one box while the others had to wait to use the ramp to go either up or down. I thought I would scream many times. Are the movers here just weaker? I kept thinking this must be on purpose.
To load our trailer we paid $450 for 2 guys/3hours and tipped each guy $100. This crew was found thru the U-Haul mover link just like TMA.
To unload? It cost us ~$1,140 for 3 guys/3 hours + $300 for an extra hour ~$1,440 and yes, we tipped each guy $40 because clearly they were not given any instruction by TMA to 1) Work smart 2) Hustle. When I expressed my concerns to the manager on duty that day I was told this is the cost of their service.
Not only would I never use TMA again, I'm taking my time to write a review to warn others to find a different company who charge appropriate to the effort. We're talking movers not doctors. They are literally asked to lift and move things. Moving households is stressy enough. Watching TMA movers be clueless how to be efficient was too much.

?? My Worst Moving Experience – Read Before You Hire TMA Movers
I’ve moved many times, and this was by far the worst experience I’ve had with a moving company. While the movers did stay until the job was complete, their inefficiency, poor packing, and lack of care resulted in avoidable damage, wasted time, and unnecessary extra costs.
? What Went Wrong?
?? 55-Inch TV Destroyed Due to Negligence – My TV was packed in its original box with extra protection (blankets & pillows), yet the movers dropped it during loading, completely shattering the screen. This was not a packing issue—it was carelessness. I’m still waiting for TMA Movers to take responsibility, and I will update this review if/when they do.
?? Horrible Packing Led to a Second Truck – The 26-ft truck should have been more than enough for my belongings, but poor packing and wasted space resulted in the need for a second truck—an extra expense that could have been avoided with proper planning.
? The Move Took 13 Hours Instead of 8–10 – Industry standards suggest a move of this size should take 8–10 hours with 3 movers. Due to slow work and inefficient space use, the job dragged on for 13 hours, costing me unnecessary labor fees.
?? Unnecessary Extra Costs – The additional truck and extra hours were not because I had too many items, but because of poor execution and lack of efficiency.
?? See for Yourself – I’ve attached photos showing both how the truck was packed and the damage to my TV. The images speak for themselves.
? Final Rating: 2 Stars
The only reason I’m not giving 1 star is because the movers did stay until the job was done. However, the inefficiencies, extra costs, and damage to my belongings made this the worst moving experience I’ve ever had.
I am still waiting for TMA Movers to take responsibility for the damaged TV and will update this review if/when they do.
?? Would I Recommend TMA Movers?
Based on my experience, I would most definitely not recommend TMA Movers. If you're planning a move, I strongly recommend finding a company with a reputation for efficiency, professionalism, and careful handling.

The young men that came to unload my truck were very professional, kind & went above & beyond. Highly recommend.

Your team did a terrific job ... arrived on time and got the job done in two hours. When we unload the next POD, I'll be sure to call you all and request your services! Five Stars! Thank you!

Had trouble with the 2 workers right from the start. Didn't know how to remove the bulk head, then could not set up the ramp. They just seemed like they had never done this before. My 2 girls did alot of the moving boxes to be unloaded, no urgency to get things done. Damaged a wall bringing in a stand. Guy kept looking at his phone. Over all was a 180 from the help we had loading in Las Vegas.

The moving company was secured with short notice and scheduled for a Saturday. Despite running late, they communicated this so I knew when to expect my movers. Joseph and Eddie were hard workers and able to unload a 16’ box truck in an hour! They were very friendly which made the experience less stressful.
