They showed up on time, but came with no tools, not even a dolly. They attempted to move our entire truck one to two boxes at a time. After their 2 hours, they had managed to move maybe a third of our 16 foot truck. They outright refused to move the heavier furniture.
I had to hire another crew, at considerable expense with such short notice, and delay our move-in. The new crew moved the rest of the truck, furniture included, with two people in about 90 minutes.
Would not use Star City again.
If there had been 3 movers booked, or if you hadn't been booked to start at 5pm, we would have gladly stayed as long as it took to ensure everything was completed to your satisfaction.
One final note, our movers, under no circumstances, ever show up to a job without a dolly and we have never downright refused to move something that was within our realistic capacity.
Honest customers who are willing to work with us and put a bit of trust in us, generally find that we'll get the job done safely and quickly, as many of our other reviews show. :)

The movers showed up on time. I hired them for 2 hours, prepaid online, and they finished in one hour with the help of my son. I guess I over estimated for the time. They were prepared, worked hard in the heat of Virginia on a July morning. They were very respectful of our things and this was during COVID. I would use them again. I hired them to unload a U-haul trailer and bring the contents into an apartment.

What can a customer expect on moving day if they hire you?
We will give you a call when we are on our way to complete your move.
How should a customer prepare for moving day?
If any issues come up either before or, especially during your move, we encourage you to call so we can get them cleared up as soon as possible. The more is disassembled before your move, or pre-packed, the more efficient we will be able to be. If not, no worries! We'll take care of it either way.
What types of moves have you handled?
We specialize in local and in-state moves although we are equipped for long-distance or even labor only moves if needed as well.
What's your favorite part about being a mover?
I believe I can speak for all of us when we say that we genuinely get FAR more enjoyment out of seeing a satisfied customer and leaving, knowing that we've really helped someone with a difficult task, often while they are in a stressful time, than we do just receiving a large tip.
What training do you provide your crew members?
Working amongst so many family and friends, we are regularly able to work together to learn and teach, even outside of regular working hours. When other movers are done for the day, we are still finding new ways to improve.
