My name is Steven G filamond jr, as a young adult my first job was being a mover. At one time movers were viewed as professional, one of a kind. Today there are many moving companies and they all say the same thing. Best price,best crew, ect! My thirteen plus years, I have had the pleasure of being a part of all types of different kinds of moving. I've seen good and bad times, from customers views, and owners views. I strongly believe a change for the trade of being a mover needs to happen. Many sleepless nights, and finally I came up with a solution. A solution to take back the respect and views of being a professional mover. My one of a kind training course, all my employees must complete before going out to a move. A course that focuses on conflict resolution\customer service and a tricks of the trade for movers course. Move day is stressful, nerve recking, unless you have the solution for your move day. Well Best plans can go wrong and do! Day one was a no show at agreed upon and scheduled day and time. Day 2; I agreed to and prepaid for 3 helpers for 4 hours. It was a rush job which was completed in 2 hours - imagine your furniture being stored in a 'Pod' storage container and 3 guys pushing together to close the storage doors.... Well the next morning I removed furniture from the storage container; imagine your dressers stored on there sides so all the pressure and weight on the dresser lip of the wood dressers possibly bouncing down our nations highways. Once I removed and repacked the three dressers and oak wood cabinet properly stored and wrapped with blankets I actually had additional space to pack 2 leather lounge chairs and box spring and mattress. I feel much better having repacked 1/3 of the container with a secure load and additional space to add additional moving supplies. Having paid almost $700.00 for 4 hours of work and the rush to get out of here and if they owned the furniture maybe they would do a better job. I thought I was hiring pros! I can only imagine if I was not on site the damage at the other end could have been greater; I work hard for and spend good money on our furniture; to have to spend 4 plus hours to take out, rewrap and repack furniture was disheartening for sure. If you are considering using 'Hire A Helper ' understand they own the web site and outsource their work; you may luck in and get a good crew then you may not. Do you feel lucky! I would not recommend.

After confirming on hireahelper.com and speaking with them on the phone to confirm again, they sent me an invoice the morning of the move for double the price we had agreed to, asking me if I wanted to cancel the order. Eventually I got in touch with the owner and he agreed to fulfill the work at the original price, but he would not be able to make the time we'd agreed to.
I had hired labor only (two workers for four hours) for my small move. An employee showed up about two hours after the scheduled window (albeit with good communication), after I'd already moved most of my belongings into my own truck. The employee was kind and hard working, but he dropped my belongings twice (and he did apologize after the second time). In half an hour with his help, we had the last two items that I could not move myself loaded into the truck and we were on the road.
Finally, while unloading the truck at the destination, everything went very smoothly and the job was done quickly and easily. The owner showed up at the destination about 20 minutes after the job was done, and he agreed to only charge me for one worker for two hours since that's all that I actually got. Hireahelper had good customer service that adjusted the bill right away for me.

My favorite part is meeting new people and being able to join them in their time of change. All change in life should be a joyful experience, not a stressful one! I want to bring back the honor of being a Mover!
What training do you provide your crew members?
I provide a two part training course to all employees, before heading to any scheduled move. First part is a training I personally came up with. I show all the popper techniques on how to lift furniture without damaging anything! Second is a conflict resolution course that all employees must take!
