Labor-Only vs. The Traditional Move

When most people think of a moving company, they picture a full-service crew that loads, drives, and unloads everything. This is known as local full-service.

Labor-only moving works differently. You handle the transportation—like a rental truck or PODS container—and we connect you with professional movers to load or unload your stuff.

While labor-only requires a bit more work on your end to coordinate all the details, it’s considerably less expensive.

Prefer hands-off? If you’d rather skip the driving and prioritize convenience, you can book a vetted full-service moving company right through HireAHelper.

The Cost of Moving in Fairview, PA

In Fairview labor-only moving help typically costs between $325.58 and $687.19.

If you’re tackling a smaller job, like unloading a PODS-style container, moving into a storage unit, or just need help with the heavy lifting, you can hire hourly moving labor for around $84.09 an hour.

The Cost of Labor-Only vs. Local-Full Service

Even after factoring in the cost of a rental truck, gas, and supplies, labor-only moving usually costs less than half of what you’d pay for local full-service. Full-service is definitely more convenient—but that convenience comes at a price.

Great work! They were super quick in unloading my material, and had no problem dealing with some tough items to bring in. They were also very friendly and accommodating.

The movers Grandy and Brandon were great. Very professional. On the otherhand the female who answered the phone at their company number did not initially identify themselves as the company and was only adequate on handling our questions. The actual moving service was great but the administrative side was only adequate.

Dakota and Jake were awesome with my move. The day went longer than originally planned but they worked hard throughout. The effort they put in to getting a king size mattress into a small house was extraordinary. If I had to move again, I’d want this team again! Everything went well from start to finish.
