I would not recommend this company.

I was told I would receive a confirmation call before the move, but no one contacted me, so I had to follow up myself. During that call, I was informed that the 26 ft truck I had booked and received written confirmation for would not be available, and only a 16 ft truck would be provided.

The movers initially described this as a “light move” and expected to finish within 3 hours, as everything was already packed and ready. It was a simple move to a nearby storage unit with no stairs. However, a significant amount of time was spent trying to fit everything into the smaller truck and making an additional trip.

Communication throughout the move was inconsistent. At one point, they said they would arrive in 15 minutes, but they arrived more than an hour later. There were also delays due to routing issues and multiple additional stops, including dumpster and gas.

The dumpster service was paid separately, yet I was still charged for labor time spent on it during the move, including approximately 1.5 hours of waiting time. When I raised this, the manager responded that I “didn’t understand” that his crew needed to eat.

The overall pace of work was inconsistent, with at least one crew member working noticeably slower than expected. The crew also asked for additional equipment and used my packing materials, including plastic wrap and tape, as they did not have sufficient supplies. The truck itself was not ready at arrival and had to be cleaned before use.

As a result, the job took more than 4 extra hours. I only disputed a small portion of that time related to delays and additional stops, but not the impact of the smaller truck itself, as I chose to resolve the situation rather than continue the discussion.

The communication with the manager was unprofessional. Instead of handling the situation fairly, I had to repeatedly explain and push back on charges that were clearly not my responsibility.

The crew arrived around 8:45–8:50 AM and only began working around 9 AM. However, after everything was discussed and paid, the manager later sent a message stating, “the guys started at 8:30 so you got 2 hours of no charge.” This is not an appropriate way to communicate with a client. Based on the actual timeline, I overpaid for approximately 3 hours.

The job was completed, but the experience was stressful, inefficient, and not handled professionally.

I would not use this company again.

The one gentleman was quiet, respectful and worked hard… the second on the other hand… was disrespectful and acted as if he was doing …me… a favor… my move was scheduled for Wednesday with movers arrival between 3-4pm. I was not notified that they could not be there at all on Wednesday until 2pm on Wednesday. HireAHelper rescheduled me for Thursday between 4-5pm. Thursday morning 5star contacted me letting me know that it could not be done on Thursday but for sure Friday. We agreed for movers arrival on Friday between 4-5 pm again… Then came Friday. The movers didn’t get there until 5:58 pm. I told them that we had till 6:35 and instantly got attitude from mover#2. Finally, Despite paying for 3 hours of help plus their drive time, When I asked if they could put the mirror on my dresser I was informed that “assembly” was not their job. By 8 pm the movers were finished and leaving… so… I paid for 3 hours and 45 minutes and they from start to finish including the drive from origination to destination and a stop for fuel, were under 2 hours… and they couldn’t help me slide a mirror into the mounting tracks on the dresser…? Needless to say… the $50.00 tip… stayed in my pocket… I would not reccomend this mover. Sorry guys… you just didn’t do it right…

Definitely recommend! All crew members were efficient and careful with furniture and boxes. They got everything into the POD quickly and packed well so nothing gets damaged during shipping.
The crew was very nice and friendly which made the whole process go by faster as well!
