I have used Hire a Helper several times in the last few years and have always had a great experience with all of the helpers. This move was not that same experience.

I was texted by Joshua the night before the move confirming a 9am to 10am window for arrival on Saturday (2/21/26). On Saturday morning, he texted and said that it would be closer to 10am. Then within an hour he texted again and said they were running a tad late and that arrival would be between 10:30am and 11:30am. At 9:42, Joshua texted again and said his driver for the crew hit a deer the night before and asked if we could reschedule the move to the following day (Sunday). I responded that I could not as we needed to be out of the house for an Open House that had been scheduled. He replied that they would be there soon.

I was texted by Malcom at Loaders at 11:18 saying they were 28 minutes away, and they arrived at 11:50 Saturday.

When they carried down the washer, they seemed to struggle with it a bit. I was in the living room when they came down with it and when they reached the landing i noticed they had come down with the washer upside down and had to flip it back over to stand it up. After all was loaded and we reached the second location, they unloaded the washer and we began hooking it up in the new laundry room when my daughter opened the door to the machine. We immediately noticed the the seal around the drum/door was twisted. I have a photo of this if you would like me to send. We pointed this out to Mike and Malcolm. Nothing was said and they continued to unload the moving truck.

We called out a technician and they straightened out the seal and we thought it was fixed but we started to run a load in the wash. It began to shake more than what you'd expect if it was just off balance. We immediately stopped machine and when we opened the door, the seal was twisted again, so we called the technician back. He unfortunately cannot make it back to look at it until next Saturday (28th).

Not sure if the drum has been displaced since the machine was completely inverted or what, but we'll know more when they come out this weekend.

Movers placed every box upside down with the labels on the floor for some reason. Never seen it before. No idea why they would think that's okay. They also forsure dropedd something while walking up the stairs more than once, but I wasn't able to see what they dropped. Also asked for a drink and to use the restroom. Normally wouldn't care, but they already didnt provided the best service, and it wasn't like they were working that long. Bring or buy a bottle of water, and use the restroom at a gas station? I gave a tip, but honestly, if they weren't waiting in the parking lot till I sent it, I probably wouldn't have.

Mover's response:
We do apologize that’s things didn’t go as planned, We will put an emphasis on placing boxes right side up. For future customers we suggest making sure all items inside boxes are properly wrapped, There is rare occasions where a box will fall or be dropped but it is completely accidental. As far as the movers waiting in the parking lot for a tip….. We sometimes complete 3-4 Jobs a day, Once a job is completed we must gps the next address and give the customer a call. That’s also the first time the movers are given a chance to catch our breath. The movers taking a few moments to regroup before the next job is common regardless of the customer tipping. Thank you for our feedback and We apologize again, We will place an emphasis on placing boxes right side up.

Once the team arrived they worked hard and handled our belongings with care. They had great attitudes and were super eager to help and polite to receive directions about where to put things. Also, very adamant about not letting us help with heavy lifting. But, they were almost three hours late! They did communicate throughout the delay, however, it did force us to do a lot more work on our own while we were waiting for them to arrive.

Our crew was Malcolm and Robert. They were absolutely amazing! They got everything moved in in a quick manner. They also had to work in the rain and didn't complain a bit! They did a very professional job and we would highly recommend them.

What can a customer expect on moving day if they hire you?

Normally a customer will receive a text message the morning of the move confirming the time. Once arrived and setup the mover will take a walk through , where you would direct them on the things needed to be done. After that all the movers would need are materials(Blankets,Straps,Rope) and TIME.

How should a customer prepare for moving day?

1. Mover friendly Boxes = Allows the movers to carry 2/3 smaller lighter boxes vs Large 2. Provide Blankets , Wrap Or straps and make sure they are visible. 3. Separate the items needed to be moved

What training do you provide your crew members?

Crew members receive hands on training until their peak is reached. You may order 2 guys and receive 3 that means one is still in training.
