Owner was accommodating when I asked if we could move up a day but Hire a Helper didn’t know that so there was some confusion. (I assumed maybe incorrectly Gold Medal would notify) Helpers called an hour early to let me know they were coming but then got lost and ended up 30 min late. I walked them thru directions on the phone how to get to our house. So helper time was for two hours with arrival between 12 and 1. They showed up at 12:30 and worked hard at getting the stuff out of the POD. At about 1:45 (45 min left) they started talking about getting to their next job. Furniture was in the rooms but nothing unwrapped or in the right location. They ask if I would release them at 2 and I said no they had 30 min left. Called their boss who tells me they got hung up because of the flood in contract, which wasn’t correct, they were lost. So he tells them to go ahead and help unwrap which they did, lost our exacto knife and still left before the two hours were up. Left furniture in middle of rooms, missed a fifth leg on a blue hutch. Nice kids but clearly not trained properly.

Arrived at 10:30 for between 10-11, prepared for the job by pulling up smoking, and did work hard by getting it done. Ignored my requests and loaded the truck in a way that made it very difficult to unload (Loaded biggest stuff last so it was thrown in, and loaded stuff upside down making stuff fall while unloading). Then asked for tip.
Not respectful of my stuff, would not use again.

The pros: They were on time and worked quickly. They were polite and respectful.
The cons: 2 of the 3 young men were clearly inexperienced. They didn’t use most of my moving blankets and wrapped antique wood furniture directly with plastic. Several of my items arrived damaged or broken.
To be fair, some of the damage may be attributable to using a PackRat container. There is nowhere inside the container to attach straps or cords, leaving anything not loaded perfectly to shift, drop, break.
More experienced movers may have recognized this problem and not expected a plastic bag of clothing to hold furniture in place. Or a light wood drying rack to hold heavy boxes in place.
