I used hire-a-helper to unload a 10 foot moving van. My posted job request said explicitly that I was unloading a moving van into a fourth floor apartment with no elevator. I hired two movers for two hours. They were contracted to arrive at 2:00pm. Everything before the move was extremely professional, including a phone call 20 minutes after booking online to confirm and another phone call the day before the move.
At 2:00pm, they called me and said they couldn't come until 3 because their previous job went long. Fine, because my girlfriend and I were still buying furniture. Then at 3, they called and said 4:30. The foreman told me, "But we're bringing a third guy, so we'll be quick!" Great. Then at 4:30, they called and said 5:30-6.
So not off to a great start.
They arrived sometime between 5 and 6, and when they got here they worked like champs unloading my van - including a very heavy couch. We served water and lemonade and we had a good rapport. On your way to a great review.
Then, the foreman pulls me aside and says something like, "Look, there's no way that only two of us could have unloaded your things in 2 hours. You're getting 3 movers. So, because it's fair, we want to charge you for the two of us for a second hour."
What?
I told him: first, you purposefully made it sound like the third person was a "bonus" for you being hours late; second, if you want to charge me for three people, you have to tell me before you start moving things, so I can decide if I want to pay more; and third, if there had been things left in the truck after two hours, I would have moved them myself. That's why I only hired two movers for two hours.
I ended up providing a generous tip (which I hadn't planned on doing), but I think that despite the really great work these guys did actually moving things up four obnoxious flights of stairs, it's extraordinarily unprofessional to (a) be hours late, and (b) try to hustle me for more money at the ve

Nick and Son's were great in our move. They showed up on time and were ready to go immediately. They worked fast and careful. I would recommend to anyone.

Nick and Sons (they're not really his sons) did a great job moving us.
They had great communication before the move, got there early, and were extremely courteous and friendly. We hired 3 movers, and they made a very good team. Nick is an expert on loading the truck and padding everything up. Another guy was an expert at dismantling and reassembling furniture, and the third was good-natured muscle (they were all strong-- he was maybe just a bit stronger).
All in all, these guys worked like dogs for an entire day. They barely asked for a couple of glasses of water. Along the way, Nick was very deliberate in making sure we were happy with how things were being done. At the end, he took me through a final walk through to make sure that everything was more or less where we wanted it. Really, they’re a class act all the way.
If I had to pick one area where they weren’t A+, it would be in packing. We were not 100% prepared when they got there, so we had some stereo and electronics that were not bubble wrapped and ready to go. Nick and co, mostly put these things on the floor of the truck on blankets, and covered them with more blankets. It worked out fine, but I would have personally felt better if they had been padded up a bit more. Again, though, this may just be a piece of mind thing, as everything seems to still work, and nothing seems to have gotten scratched. Also, we had them move some things into storage pods, and by the end, when it had gotten quite late, the last pod was not loaded up quite as neatly or efficiently as the first 2.
But, to be clear, these are minor nits. Just something for people to be aware of.
In general, I would recommend these guys without reservation. They are professional, honest, pleasant, very hard working, and know what they are doing. And their prices are reasonable. What more could you want?

I found that the movers did a great job and were very efficient. While they arrived slightly late, it took much less time then I expected to get everything out of my apartment and to load the truck, so in fact they were done before I anticipated. They knew exactly what they were doing, and they were friendly and professional.

We called Hire a Helper at the last minute, and were told Nick & Sons could help us the next morning at 8a. We had a Pod delivered to our new apartment late on sat, and needed help unloading it 1/2 into new apartment, 1/2 into waiting budget rental truck. They called that nite later to confirm, and introduce themself. Sunday morning they were right on time 8am...our helpers Tarcio and Diego were great, everything you can use to get a job done right, they were very courteous and friendly, they knew what they were doing, they worked great with us, since it was a little confusing as to what went into moving truck and what went upstairs. I would highly recommend Tacio and Diego to any friends or family that needed help moving. And if we move again i would hesitate calling them. Our whole moving experience in Rhode Island went smooth due to great help. Thanks Tacio and Diego..

If there were an option for 6 stars ("above and beyond"), I would certainly choose it. Nick and his crew were phenomenal! I cannot say enough positive things to paint a picture of how smoothly the packing of our PODS went, with Nick in charge! Nick, Nick, Adam and Caesar were all extremely friendly, helpful, efficient, careful and knowledgable. We rented two full-size PODs, but had I known how wonderfully skilled they are at packing the PODs I now know that we could've gotten away with less POD space. Very efficient packers. They carefully and thoughfully packed our items into the unit as if playing a game of Tetris, building a solid wall of our belongings, one row at a time. It was quite amazing, like an art! And they worked so well together as a team. Nick was extremely customer oriented and courteous, but I was most blown away with how wonderfully he treated his workers. He often referred to each of them as "Sir", and was continuously praising them, and telling them "great job". It was well-deserved praise, but it was very nice to witness. These guys are EXTREMELY experienced, and apparently love what they do. They did it with passion and LOTS of energy. They completed our 4 hour job in 3 hours, and I have no doubt whatsoever that the movers that I have worked with in the past would've taken over 4 hours and the results would have come nowhere near Nick & Sons in terms of quality. When we find our next home, and are ready to unload those PODs, there is absolutely no other choice for us than to call on Nick & Sons again. I found them through Hire-a-Helper, and am so glad that I did. Thanks to all the past reviewers for letting me in on this secret.

I contacted Nick & Sons less than 30hrs before I needed to move and they were in nearly immediate contact with me. The crew that showed up (on time!) was pleasant, helpful and extremely efficient. They were able to load a number of heavy, awkward items with ease and quickly! If I move again, I will absolutely call this team!

Nick and his crew were excellent. I had immediate contact from Nick after registering, and then a confirmation call the night before. When I called him back to say we weren't ready for him, he rearranged his schedule to accommodate mine. Tarcio, Harold, and Andre were great. They called on their way to us and when they arrived immediately began working. They were careful, fast, and efficient. Friendly and polite they told me they wanted to make me happy. Everything went really well. I absolutely would use Nick and Sons again and would also recommend them to my family and friends.
