I engaged Hire A Helper to provide movers to help to load a 1.5 bedroom apartment stuff, (everything packed and ready) on a 16-foot truck. The building has an elevator, and there was trolly to help to carry boxes.
I hired two workers from Gentle Movers for loading the truck, asked explicitly for experienced people for a long drive. Both helpers were young and robust. Since we planned to move across four states and had a long journey ahead of us, I asked the helpers again, if they are experienced enough packing the truck for such a trip. Of course, the answer was YES. Unfortunately, they were not as effective as I imagined. They were very relaxed and talking on the phone or with each other and going to the bathroom for quite a long time. So I was also helping them as well, carrying the boxes and other stuff, and to my amazement, they were standing and looking at me carrying the boxes. It was already late afternoon around 7 PM, so I did not bother with that. Finally, they finished the job. The next morning, around 6 AM, as we planned to move, and when we started to drive the truck, a loud sound stopped me. Opening the car, I saw a scene that struck me; it seems they just loaded the stuff like a bunch of garbages on top of each other. The TV was loos, and the sound was the result of its crash to the back door. The chairs were loos on top of the stuff, and one of them just turned around. My wife and I had to unload half of the thing and load them again, which took us till noon. Lots of furniture got damaged due to the improper loading, even though there were enough blankets to cover them, they did an inferior job on that. Almost all the furniture which we did not wrap or cover ourselves, and we could not unload from the truck are damaged.
I have continental move from Europe to the US and many local moves both here in the US and Europe, and this was the worst experience of all.
On my previous move, I used Higherahelper, and it was a fair job, but this time seems to be the worst.

These young men were extremely careful, kind, and attentive to details. They had to work in heat and carry everything up 3 flights of steps but never complained. Kudos to them for a job well done, above and beyond.

I needed some last-minute help loading materials into my building, and they were great! They worked hard, they were careful of their surroundings, and didn't complain at all. The only reason I'm knocking off a star from 5 stars (the labor, care, and demeanor they provided was fantastic and worth 5 stars) was that they showed up in the last ten minutes of the start window. They were not late, but a bit more of a heads up on arrival time would have helped.

Saquon and Robert showed up on time, were very courteous and did a great job. I am a control freak :) and they did a good job humoring me on my "needs" for packing the POD. I will be requesting their help for my last 2 PODs.

This was going to be five stars, regardless, simply for the fact the Gentle Movers crew helped on very short notice (I screwed up the booking date.) The two crew members were young, courteous/responsive--despite my frazzled state--and moved quickly to pack a very full truck. In the end, they played a solid game of Tetris with our possessions. I would recommend this service for your next move!

They ripped open the bag of 6 furniture pads instead of opening it nicely to reclose to return w/ the Uhaul.The rented dolly was forgotten to put back in the Uhaul for return which they accessed.Thank you.

Although they called to say they would be 20 minutes late due to traffic, they actually arrived almost on time (only a few minutes late). Both helpers were very nice, friendly, and pleasant. They were very helpful. Yes we would definitely use them again.

The 2 guys that came arrived on time. They worked their asses off, followed directions, were respectful and were very careful unpacking our items. They unloaded our pod for us and we would definitely use them again. Plus they came in on budget. It doesn't get any better than that!!!
