My phone call with the owner, Francis Silberio, just ended by him talking over me and then hanging up on me. His movers were hired to move my daughter's items yesterday, 8/24/25, showing up between 8am-9am. Text messages and emails were received as if everything was fine. When the workers never showed up, at around 9:30 my husband called the company and was informed that BOTH workers called in sick. They said "they would try to find replacements to eventually arrive." At approximately 9:45, Mr. Silberio called to say he would get some guys. In the meantime, my husband and daughter moved every item out of her apartment themselves other than 11 heavier pieces (dresser, dining room table, etc.). They did however move those 11 pieces near the apartment door. "The guys" ended up being Mr. Silberio and another worker, arriving at 11:40am, 2 hours and 40 minutes past the end of our arrival window time. Because they showed up and finished the work of loading, my husband gave them each a tip. When I called to speak with Mr. Silberio today, soon into the conversation, he got very loud and defensive. He spoke over me, not listening. It was very obvious that good customer service is not something SMF Moving & Staging has. I never even told him what amount of compensation we were requesting, whether it would have been half off or just 10%, a token of the trouble he caused. He accused me of wanting the tip money back which was laughable. At NO time did he try to speak calmly and make things right. There was no way we were getting even a penny back from him. Mr. Silberio is your textbook definition of a narcissist. With all of the moving companies out there, be sure to avoid this one.

I have to say they were very nice! They brought my fridge in carefully…. But I didn’t go back upstairs once they said they were”done”, Had company @ that time… they didn’t put my mattress on my bed. They left it in the guest room w/the other bed??????? I had boxes for the kitchen upstairs…Thankfully my company helped me get my mattress to the master & get it on my bed! This part has nothing to do w/the guys but it says on the main page that they wear uniform shirts… I definitely didn’t see that! I don’t think I will be using Hire A helper again…Don’t cancel or reschedule!! I had to pay $125 extra due to not having my pod (truck damage)

Carlos and Kahlyial did a fantastic job!! They packed the moving POD with extra room to spare, made sure everything was secure. They were friendly and had a great sense of humor.

Moving is stressful. This company did not make it easier. I had reserved a 12pm arrival. The movers called at 9:30 the morning of and asked if they could come early. I told them I was not ready and I needed them to arrive at 12pm, the time I had reserved. They did not arrive until almost 2pm. They came with no gloves and dirty hands that stained my off-white chenille sofa. They also tore an 18" hole in the bottom of another sofa's lining so it now hangs to the floor. The men did not know how to carefully move furniture at all. I would not recommend this company for your move unless you have cheap things you don't care about damaging.

How should a customer prepare for moving day?

The customer should try to have all boxes properly sealed, dresser drawers emptied if possible. have boxes staged in one location, also to have all needed materials such as moving blankets , shrink wrap and tape.

What types of moves have you handled?

My company has handled various residential moves, long distance ,storage units ,ABF trailers, loading and unloading of PODS ,and office relocation.

What's your favorite part about being a mover?

My favorite part of being a mover is helping people eliminate the anxiety that's comes on moving day.

What training do you provide your crew members?

My crew has been trained in proper lifting techniques and well as furniture preparation,packing and customer service. .
