The work that Witmer's Moving and More was appalling. Short story: they were on time, but they were not prepared for the job, they did not work hard, they were not respectful of our property and goods, and we would not use them again.
Highlights:
1) We saw one of them kicking our boxes across the floor. We were working alongside them, and both of us were present to see this spectacle, so I am sure you can imagine how they treat belongings without direct supervision.
2) They paid no attention to which materials were fragile, even when a) they were marked as such b) they were told they were fragile and c) WE VOLUNTEERED TO CARRY THEM FOR THEM. I set these materials aside and told one mover I would carry them. His response: while I carried the first box of fragile items in, he loaded the remainder of our heirloom china on a dolly without securing straps. Then he took the elevator and the dolly back down, and left me on my own to carry four boxes of hardcover books.
3) I asked them to take particular care with an antique trunk loaded with fragile items, unloading fragile stuff first and then carrying it carefully so as not to damage it. Instead, they put it, fully loaded, on a dolly UPSIDE DOWN. I stopped them and unloaded it (right before they bumped it up the steps). But then somehow *I* wound up carrying said trunk BY THE MAN I HAD HIRED TO MOVE IT, who had his hands empty, until I said, "Could you help me with this please?"
4) For reference on efficiency: there were two of us moving, both female, both in our mid-30s. Neither of us has visited a gym in this decade. WE WORKED WITH ALONGSIDE THESE MOVERS TO SET A FASTER PACE AND SPEED THEM UP. In contrast, the movers we hired at the other end packed and secured the truck with a great deal more care, in significantly less time, with no help, and for less money--although we were moving from greater NYC.
5) Long and short of it: save yourselves the money and the anxiety. Hire somebody else or do it yourself.

Charlie and Henderson were on-time and hard working. The 2 men loaded my 3500 sq ft home in less than 4 hours, and stayed the course to unload at our new house for a 10 hour day without losing steam. They were professional, courteous, and very efficient. I've never seen a truck get packed so tightly in such little time. Thanks Witmer's Moving for making my moving day go without a hitch. This was the second job in three weeks for which used Witmer's. They were just as hard working and professional as the first time. It was another hot and humid July day but these guys worked straight through until the end of the three hours I booked. And again, email communication to confirm start time and date were prompt. Just tell Charlie what you need done and it gets done. I had loaded about 20 Lowes boxes onto my OD 28' trailer myself the day before the Witmer 2 man crew showed up. They loaded the rest of the entire trailer in 3 hours exactly. Well done job.

They arrived on time, plus worked extra hours. Good hard workers. ..I'd recommend them, they didn't complain. Very Careful with our equipment and misc items, and especially with the ceramic & hard wood floors.
Don't talk much. Brought own hand truck and furniture pads. Nice job.

Helpers (Henderson and Charlie) were here early, worked well together and very efficiently. Everything handled carefully, no damage to anything. They even helped to restore the truck to returnable condition. Wish I could arrange to have them again for our main move a month from now.

The two people from Witmer's Moving who loaded my Old Dominion trailer arrived exactly on time as promised. As I requested, they (Charlie & Henderson) were both experienced at loading OD trailers. Since OD charges by the linear foot for trailer usage, Charlie asked how I wanted space reserved utilized. I said use all available space in the 9'x8' box. And they did. They were quick, efficient and got the job done with no problems. In fact, they saved me some money because only 12' of 17 linear feet of reserved trailer space was used. OD does a reduction adjustment on the estimated rate when this happens. I had all furniture padded and stretched wrapped and was ready for them. Preparation does help, folks. I had reserved 3 hours and they finished in about 90 minutes. I watched all loading and they were careful. I am using the same company for another load up in a couple of weeks. All emails to this company were promptIy answered. If you are prepared to move I would recommend this company.
