What can a customer expect after booking with you?
I am always accessible via text or email, so they are free to ask as many questions as they want. I will have questions of our own to better prepare, and will ask if our customer has any special concerns. Our crew will always pack/deconstruct/wrap and prepare the space for the move the day before to streamline the move process.
What can a customer expect on moving day if they hire you?
We show up early, and put all of our equipment outside. Then each team member will be loaded up and sent out in conformity with our system. We try to be as efficient as possible so we are in and out pretty quick.
How should a customer prepare for moving day?
If they are packing, proper labeling is crucial. Please tell us if the contents contains glass, is fragile, or contains breakables, nothing heavy on top, this way up (can not be placed on its side) or is heavy. For easier placement when unloading, designate the rooms (hallway closet, kitchen, master Bedroom, etc). Always place liquids in a plastic bag, knot the bag tightly and place the bag in a box titled "liquids". Bottle tops sometimes come off, or are lose and will spill. Books in book boxes, please :)
What types of moves have you handled?
We have moved from a single room, to an entire company floor. From moves within a building in Manhattan to Florida or Wisconsin, or upstate NY.
What's your favorite part about being a mover?
Its never a dull moment. I meet great people everyday and help lots of people make these transitions in their lives and its pretty awesome. I often make a friend, and its especially cool when you've moved the mom, the aunt, the brother or sister and their friends. I don't think I could ever go back to working behind a desk :)
What training do you provide your crew members?
Eventually everyone is given hands on training. I personally show each mover how to lift, what to avoid, what to remain focused on and how to pack, how to wrap, and our system for loading moving vehicles and stationary containers or storage units. The videos they review are ok I guess, but every mover has always said being instructed while they are doing it is nothing like a video
