Irongate movers came out on 1/29/26 to move all furniture, appliances, and boxes, etc.
Because my location had gotten a lot of ice they first said that they didn’t want to move me because it took them 30 minutes to figure out how to park their truck. I had to advise them on how to get the truck close to the deck.
They moved furniture and boxes but said they felt uncomfortable in moving appliances.
As I had to be out of the home by 1/31, I ask if they could come back on Friday 1/30 as they were calling for snow on 1/31, they said they were booked up.
I called Hire-A-Helper and they said that I would have to make a new order for Friday.
They showed up approximately 7:15 pm and as I had already told hire-a-helper that the doors would need to be taken off to get the refrigerator out the door. They began removing the door and then I was ask how to unhook the water dispenser. I called someone that had installed the refrigerator and they said they couldn’t do that nor take down my microwave.
I specifically had things in one location had I told them not to touch but yet they moved stuff I didn’t want moved and I also told them that they didn’t take things they were supposed to move on Thursday 1/29.
They just loaded up boxes and mirrors that I told them that I had furniture blankets for and straps to secure items but never used them as I had rented a U-Haul truck.
The appliances never got moved and when they went to put the left refrigerator door on, it wasn’t put on correctly. The left door is higher than the right door that they never touched and it isn’t opening & closing correctly.

I thought that going through Hire-A-Helper I would be getting professional movers but it clearly seems that’s not correct. The company name wasn’t even on the truck they brought out on 1/29.

Highly disappointed and expect a refund since now I have basically repack what was put in the U-Haul and still get someone to move my appliances and fix my refrigerator door.

Would NEVER recommend your company to anyone needing moving services.

Maam. You must understand that you called a company to come out in the ice storm and one. You had already fallen and almost broken your wrist on the same ice that you were asking us to move your belongings on. We first told you no that’s not safe but you insisted. We do not removed appliances that are attached to the home such as the microwave that was attached to the wall above the stove. We don’t do that for insurance purposes. Second of all we moved the washer and dryer for you against better judgment and fell taking that out. We went above and beyond for you , you were just asking for things outside the scope of work and especially during the ice storm it really shouldn’t have been done at all. Refund? No we came out twice for you to try to assist you. The. You also had cabinets built around the fridge so it was impossible to take out the door. And the only door that was available to use was covered in ice.

This is a result of your improper planning and negligence to the safety of the movers that came. We are terribly sorry about your experience and we are always understanding. But your claims are a bit ludicrous.

And it was also very difficult to get direction from you because you were already rude and nasty cursing at the guys before arrival and once they arrived you stayed in the room and drank mixed drinks from the gas station til the point you were slurring your words

I believe you’re review is with hire a helper and not Irongate movers because you even stated the guys were great and polite you were just “pissed off”

The movers arrived on time and even communicated with me throughout the day to ensure we were on schedule. Our move window was 4PM-5PM but as I'd communicated with him during our trip, he was able to arrive closer to 5PM to meet us there. The movers were extremely efficient, and I appreciate that they took the time to ask which room we'd like our items to go to. They set up large furniture (living room, bedroom) and exercised care and caution with our items. The movers were respectful and courteous.

What can a customer expect after booking with you?

Customers can expect a stellar service from start to finish! From the initial contact til the moment payment has been made. We show up on time, fully equipped and ready to rock!

What can a customer expect on moving day if they hire you?

They can expect a courtesy call before the move starts, the crew arrives, takes a look at the home and does a pre check. That means checking around the house to look at the condition of the items so that we are on the same page. Then we bring in the tools and start getting the items ready for transport. In the truck the items get packed safely and securely to ensure a successful move. They can expect smiling and friendly movers because customer service and satisfaction is our top priority!

How should a customer prepare for moving day?

Everything should be ready for the upcoming move. Dressers should be empty, unless otherwise stated Items should be in a box ready to go TVs and appliances should be unhooked from walls and connectors Have your items being moved and items being discarded to be organized beforehand. Disclose all items of extreme importance and value beforehand

What types of moves have you handled?

We have handled local, long distance moves, piano moves, gun safe moves, industrial machine moves, office relocation, interior moves and much more!

What's your favorite part about being a mover?

The experience! Being able to meet new people everyday is a blessing! Everyone has an interesting story to tell and it’s fun getting to help others and hear their story while doing so

What training do you provide your crew members?

We train the crews on how to pack items and how to wrap and manuever furniture.
