First, the good. The guys were polite and efficient. They were on time and had good attitudes.
Now, the bad. I had spoken with the mover several times before moving day. I made it clear the scope of the move. We would be unloading the truck I drove from Georgia in our new home, then we would make two round trips from my existing house. I told them it was going to be a full day.
The unload went fine, the reload went fine, then when unloading the first truckload from my local house, I was told they wouldn’t have enough time to go back and make the second trip. Basically, I was left to fend for myself and try to hire another crew to finish the job. They didn’t even offer to come back the next day to finish.
I worked as a professional mover and completed over 1,000 moves. I’ve never heard of any crew abandoning the homeowner in the middle of a move. It was completely unprofessional and inexcusable.
Additionally, they didn’t put boxes in the proper places, even after my wife made it clear that if a box was labeled, they should put it where the label indicated. They did not do that. Kitchen boxes were in the garage. Boxes labeled fragile were on the bottom of stacked boxes. There wasn’t much attention to detail at all.
If you have a simple move and don’t care if things are not properly cared for, these guys will do fine. If you’ve got a complex move with fragile things you care about, look for someone else.
