Do not use this company! The 2 kids sent to move heavy furniture were not qualified at all! They did not bring any equipment. In fact they asked to use my dolly. They wanted to show up an hour before scheduled. They did not know how to use fastening straps. I had a treadmill which was taken apart and did not weigh more than 300 pounds to move. They could not move it and I had to hire someone else to move it. They only “worked” 1 hour. They marked up and dinged the stairwell wall. Please send qualified individuals to move heavy furniture. Moving day is stressful enough.

Upon this review, I will follow up with a phone call if you do not contact me first.
I chose (3) stars because the service provided started great, but as the evening went on, it became less great. The gentleman who said he was the boss/owner of SMF Moving & Staging had a younger man assisting him with the unloading. The younger man did not take primary care of some furniture, and my brother had to give him a clear understanding of respecting the furniture by NOT dragging it on the ground. The same young man was pulling a (4) wheeled pulley, and he mis-guided the entrance lip, and items fell on the floor; some ceramic items were cracked. This happened again, but with the owner dropping items (clothing, small box with smaller items). When we were close to the 2 hr. time, I agreed to a 3rd Hour, which had at least (6) pieces of larger furniture to be brought up. 45 mins into the additional hour, there were only (2) pieces left, which should not have taken longer than that to maneuver and get unloaded. Within the last 10 minutes. of the additional hour, I received a text from your company to finalize the payment. I anticipated the finalization to be done by the last few minutes, and I completed the payment with the additional hour. When they finally completed the unloading it was 20 minutes past the additional hour.
When I mentioned to the owner of SMF, that I had completed the payment, he was not pleased and I apologized for jumping the gun . He spoke to me with such disdain I began to raise my voice out of the disrespect I was being given as a customer. The own said in response to my raised voice of concern," You need to lower your voice when to talk to me!". I accepted that as a major disrespet and walked away from him to avoid any further discussion or actions.
He and I did chat about the situation and we tried to add on the additional 20 minutes but I had no way of getting back to the link. The SMF owner was worried that your company would think that something illegal or out of the norm was going on. When I attempted to relieve his stress by indicating that I would contact your office, he basically blew off my experience as an older gentlemen who has done this same type of work during and after college. That's when I began to raise my voice. He said that I didn't know anything about the business nor had a clue.
With that being said, I would like to honor the contract and pay them the difference, minus the tip, with the understanding that an apology is due to me, my and my brother as well as the Willow Grove Manager who had to witness this.

Excellent crew. They were friendly and courteous. Very professional crew. They asked where we wanted each item and placed everything where we wanted it. They emptied 2x 16ft pods in under an hour. They put together the beds and made sure we were happy with everything before they left. We will definately use the guys from SMF Moving and Staging if we ever move again.

How should a customer prepare for moving day?

The customer should try to have all boxes properly sealed, dresser drawers emptied if possible. have boxes staged in one location, also to have all needed materials such as moving blankets , shrink wrap and tape.

What types of moves have you handled?

My company has handled various residential moves, long distance ,storage units ,ABF trailers, loading and unloading of PODS ,and office relocation.

What's your favorite part about being a mover?

My favorite part of being a mover is helping people eliminate the anxiety that's comes on moving day.

What training do you provide your crew members?

My crew has been trained in proper lifting techniques and well as furniture preparation,packing and customer service. .
