All three workers were excellent. They worked nonstop for 3 hours. They worked well together, respectful of all items, had good experience with using full dimensions of container.

Our movers were great! Not only did they carry multiple heavy items down two flights of stairs in a cramped apartment complex, but they helped efficiently pack the furniture in our moving truck and tie everything down. I would highly recommend.

Strike 1: I was awakened at 6AM CT on the day of my move by Packed Moving Services, informing me that they were double booked. Not sensing at all how this is/was my issue, I was then asked if the movers could arrive at 3PM. I said no, as I have a PODS with a 4 hour delivery that begins at 2PM and that is 1-2 hours later than I had wanted them to start. I wanted all the boxes moved to the first floor so when the PODS arrived, we would have a nice lead time. The young woman kept trying to get me to accept the later time, again, and I felt like I was expected to solve, despite being the paying customer. It was at this point where I became frustrated. The young woman mentioned to me that she “didn’t want to call the person in charge this early because they would be upset” - my assumption is this was Daniel (referred to later). After calling said person, she called back 6:15 to let me know that they could do 2PM, and OFFERED me an additional person for a total of 4 people for 4 hours. and said it was a NO CHARGE. I DID NOT REQUEST THIS OTHER PERSON, THEY WERE OFFERED TO ME. I accepted what I thought was a gracious solution to help me hit my 4 hour PODS time.

Strike 2: The lead crew person was on time at 2PM, the team was not. The phone person for Packed Moving Services, Daniel, aggressively TOLD me that they started at 2, even though it is quite well documented both by time and physical presence, that they were NOT there at 2PM and we were charged beginning at 2PM. Daniel began throwing numbers at me to overwhelm and disarm; heightening confusion and muddying clarity. It was through his barrage of information that I find that I was actually paying for the additional person.

Also, because the crew SLOWED DOWN when we had only 2 pieces of furniture left in the apartment, it caused us to go over an additional HOUR!!! So now the movers are overtime AND my POD is now over its 4 hour timing. Now I’m paying for their inefficiencies. Antonio - as nice and “smooth” as he is - was a major contributor to why things did not get done. He could not be serious about what he was doing and proved to be distractor to the other movers including his Tio, who served as the crew leader. One mover was visibly intoxicated and I question if he should have been able to handle a client’s belongings. I saw him a total of 4 times as he seemed to try to “stay focused” as evident by him wrapping a piece of furniture, 11 TIMES!! I personally observed from my balcony, when checking on the progress of the load, Antonio smoking what appeared to be a Black & Mild in my POD and near my furniture. We are a non-smoking household and the smell still lingers on my furniture. There were numerous complaints about the number of stairs; which had already been disclosed and approved by their company. Yes, I know it’s a lot of stairs, it’s why I hired movers and I most certainly don’t need to be kept in the loop about how many or hard they are.

Strike 3: I checked often on how we were looking on space and was told, ‘We have plenty. We’ll get everything on the POD’. Spoiler alert: not everything made it on the POD. I had to leave behind expensive patio furniture. The packing, although serviceable, left many of my large and expensive pieces of furniture scraped, ripped, and faded. This is AFTER I provided them with furniture blankets. I was VERY SPECIFIC on which pieces the blankets should be used. Meanwhile - some of the cheapest items, things I expressly asked NOT to be blanketed, were in fact blanketed, contributing to my furniture being damaged. They insisted on wrapping the very items I asked them not to and now my furniture is damaged.

Bonus strike: At the end of the move, after being told that I had to pay for the additional time AND person (that I didn’t request), Daniel offered me a workaround: call HireAHelper and tell them the crew finished two hours early to get a refund, so I could pay him the overage he was pushing. Feeling pressured, I called HireAHelper to report the early completion to receive the $350 refund. I was told this would reduce my cost, not that it was a final settlement or waiver of responsibility. I acted under time pressure and confusion, and I did not knowingly waive any claims. I received a $350 refund on my original $881 move through HireAHelper, only to then be charged $650 by Packed Moving Services — for a total of $300 more than I had wanted. Based on their hourly rate, they essentially made off with 2.3 hours of unjustified pay. They have a 4.8/5 rating (out of 375 reviews), but the service I received was anything but.

So to recap: double-booked and couldn’t show up; offered me an additional person and showed up late; improperly packaged and loaded my furniture; bait-and-switched me with pricing; didn’t follow instructions; complained and distracted — and charged me for the additional person.

I’d only consider using them again if I were fully in charge — and even then, reluctantly.

Mover's response:
This is a lot of feedback. Very much appreciated. Thank you for sharing your point of view on our service. Things don’t always work out perfectly with scheduling, and as much as we try to work miracles with packing and loading, there’s only so much space we have to work with. As far as claimed damages, you can file a claim with HireAHelper and we will be happy to respond. However? Everything was wrapped as requested and we used all the blankets you had. We even gave you some of our own. A lot of the things you’re striking us on are simply standard procedure, we also gave you a huge discount. That “work around” was just us trying to not lose at the fact that we were giving you the move at cost of labor basically. I’m sorry you had such a bad experience, and I’m sorry you didn’t appreciate the fact that we were simply trying to work with you as much as possible to get your move done on time and take care of your items.
