Travel between houses was only 5 minutes. I got charged for .25. Also there appeared to be a brand new mover who stained my couch and a chair with dirty hands, looks pretty awful given my furniture is white. But they were pleasant overall.
I want to sincerely apologize for the issue with your sofa. Our movers are instructed to wash their hands before handling light-colored furniture, especially after dealing with boxes or other items that may carry dust or dirt. However, during a move, it's not uncommon for buildup from furniture and boxes to accumulate on their hands. I've spoken directly with the foreman on your move and reminded the crew to be more mindful of this moving forward.

Regarding the $0.25 charge on your Bill of Lading for the 5-minute drive: This is due to how time is calculated across the moving industry in California. State regulations require that moving time be billed in 15-minute increments, so even if a task takes less than 15 minutes, it is rounded up. Even though I had several schedule changes and hard time, they did a very good job of loading in two hours by only two people.

• Were they on time?
No. We had requested the movers to arrive early near the window start time between 8am and 9am. Movers arrived at 9:20am. Also, after speaking with their manager the day before to confirm, the time she told me out of nowhere was 9am-10am which was never stated as the schedule before. I was able to get us to agree to the 8am-9am window but the movers arrived late.
• Were they prepared for the job?
No. When the movers called me that their ETA to start the job was 30 mins, they asked if the few pieces of furniture that they were tasked with moving was ready to be loaded onto the truck. The job was for moving a 2 BED 2 BATH APARTMENT. I’m not sure who was more surprised to hear that, me or the movers..
• Did they work hard?
Not efficient and 1/2 movers kept trying to contact Hire-a-Helper to complain about the miscommunication mentioned above. Also, the movers work hourly so there’s not much incentive to work quickly. I had even provided them with a spare key fob to be able to go in and out of the apartment complex with minor down time and after the first 20minutes into the move they returned the fob and said it wasn’t necessary. Also, it’s worth reiterating that all of my belongings were packed and ready to be carried out and nothing had to be dismantled, packed, etc. Last, the 2 movers were not working collaboratively at all with little to no communication as a means to get onto the same page.
• Were they respectful of your property and goods?
No. One mover continuously struggled to get over the front door threshold with a packed dolly causing belongings to jostle violently and in repeated cases belongings fell off the dolly..
• Would you use them again?
No.

The team was 3 hours late pushing me into Riverside County traffic. I also had to call 911 for the driver who fell off the truck! My furniture was damaged when they loaded the ramp on top of freight. My wife and witnessed the driver fall

Moving is stressful. So we are a partner in your move. Our sales reps gather all your move day information and strategizes with our Moving crews. Courtesy text messages with all updates on your move. From pickup to drop off, our Forman's will update you with their ETA always.
What can a customer expect on moving day if they hire you?
We will come ready to work and help you with packing/moving/lifting/stacking. Just tell us what you need and we'll get it done.
How should a customer prepare for moving day?
Unless you request packing service, please be ready to move and pack up all of your boxes/items. The fewer little things you have around the faster you move will go. Save time, save money.
