Problem started night I called Jody's Moving and Labor.
Jody (D Crawford) asked why I double booked his company. I explained it was what Hire A Helper contracted for. He suggested I cancel one day and that he could give me a better price. I declined, explaining I already had an agreement .
The morning he arrived, he called me saying he had a full crew (4 including himself). After walking Crawford through the house and showing him the large moving blankets for large furniture pieces he estimated he could fit everything in one POD instead of two I had rented. I had a six bedroom home and one POD could not hold a full house.
They did not have any tools with them as the agreement with Hire A Helper specified they would to move items and dismantle as well.
Crawford told me he and his crew could do the job in one day and not have to return the next day for the labor cost of the four laborers.
They began filling the PODS with the boxes and bins my daughter and I had previously packed and labeled, marking heavy and fragile containers to avoid damage to the contents. I discovered later they stacked heavy boxes marked heavy or books on top of boxes and bins marked fragile or breakable. Fortunately no items were broken in the containers.
Apart from a bookcase with glass doors and a display hutch no large furniture pieces were covered with the moving blankets I provided for them. I was unable to supervise the work as I was busy packing last minute items and I trusted they were experienced movers. At about the finish of the loading I saw them trying to push our white leather sofa into the POD with the back rests still attached and the sofa was not covered to protect it. The end of the sofa on the bottom was dragged on the driveway and caused a 18 inch tear to the arm rest. I pointed out the damage and Crawford acknowledged it and sent me a picture of it on my phone. We also found a triangle shaped wood veneer on the edge of the POD that I later found was broken off a bookcase in the POD that had been placed upside down and dragged on the floor.
Before the finish of the packing of the POD things were tight and some more room was needed. I suggested they take a wood hutch be turned upside down and placed on a rolling tool box to gain more space. Instead Crawford instructed his workers to turn the tool box upside down and placed on top of the hutch. I stopped them before they did it and questioned Crawford. He told me he was following my instructions, which was not correct. He then told me it could not be done as I suggested, which was not true. Later upon unloading the hutch I discovered a leg of the hutch had been completely broken off.
I would not recommend nor use the services of Jody's Moving and Labor.

It was great having Lou and Gene are our Helpers with loading our 2 different Pods. The one they packed for us last week was done soo well, we asked that they come back to pack our 2nd pod this week.
