The two men who came for my service, Nuke and Alex, were nice. I paid for 2 guys for 3 hours to go from my 2 bedroom house to a storage unit across the street. I’ve moved many times and this should’ve been just about right. When they arrived, they said they really needed a third person for all the stuff. I told them they could do that but I didn’t wanna wait to start, so they opted not to. I requested 8-9am and they arrived at 8:50.
They wrapped most items, but I noticed some didn’t have the wrapping completely covering my items. I can’t police each thing they do so unfortunately I didn’t notice some until we got to my storage unit and surely the items are now scratched. Other movers I’ve used come with a little wheeled cart and a large empty box to put a ton of things in. These guys did not, meaning they often took out 1-2 items at a time, extending the time it took for them to complete the job.
Their English was also not great (Alex’s was better), which sometimes made it difficult to say what I needed. That’s not great for a job like this. I also felt they haphazardly loaded my storage unit, just going in order of unloading the truck instead of unloading and thinking about what should go where. They were placing heavy items on top of fragile furniture, for example. I also explained my mattress will be ruined if it’s not laid flat and they argued for a few minutes with me about it. I helped them lift the mattress up to lay it on top of things and there was no issue, as I’d told them.
Overall - nice enough crew, but I did not feel like they took enough care or had the equipment to move as fast as they could have. I would not use again.

Book this job last minute, as I didn't know when my moving truck would arrive more than 2 days in advance. I appreciated the availability. The crew arrived in the scheduled window. They were slow to start the job and moved without much hurry throughout. They were somewhat inexperienced (didn't know how to setup the loading ramp of the truck). After everything had been unloaded, only one of the four team members started helping assemble furniture, which I had explicitly asked for. I had to specifically collect the rest of the team from the driveway and put them back to work. Required a lot more direction than prior moving teams I've worked with. Would only hire again in a pinch.

This was an odd job. The night before the move, John, the mover, contacted me and said they could start at 8am although I had a scheduled start time at 11am. In the morning, I called Man with a truck and Richard told me they didn’t have a John. When I got to the unloading site, John and another man were there and said they were with Man with a Truck ***Porch*** Moving and they had never heard of Richard, who I spoke with earlier. They said something about being subcontracted, which did not seem right as I specifically hired Man With A Truck movers based on their rating. The job felt rushed even though I booked for 3 hours. One of the movers didn’t speak English so I couldn’t communicate with him at all. As the POD was being unloaded a stack of 4-5 boxes fell because only 1 person was unloading. The other was busy on the truck. They also asked me twice to fill out paperwork when all that had been done through Hire a Helper and the job was prepaid. When we got to the storage locker, I wanted to take time to have them arrange the boxes in a manner that I could easily access certain boxes first. It was very rushed and I got the feeling the movers just wanted to start their weekend early as they said they didn’t have any more work that day. This job was nothing like the superb one I had in San Diego in which the loaders were amazing. It was just ok.

They made sure to use bubble wrap, shrink wrap, and blankets to protect all my belongings, which gave me peace of mind during the move.

They were dang middle of the road as far as experiences, but were a godsend that they were available on such short notice after IJC cancelled on us. They arrived within the 1 hour arrival window, and got started promptly upon arrival. They were respectful, respectful with our goods, methodical, but unhurried. It felt like they were padding the hours to a certain extent with how much excess packing they were doing with our furniture. The job when 3 hours over estimate, and their pace stayed steady the entire time. I will not be using them again after this.
