I would not use these movers again. Had them hired for two hours to move all downstairs furniture into a storage container in our driveway. We were having new flooring put in. Upon finishing (it took them one hour, not the paid for two) they aggressively asked for a tip. After they left, we found that they had forgotten to move our refrigerator. Kind of important since we needed everything off the floors? We contacted them, and they said they would come back the next day, at half of the previous days fee. Sounded like a lot to me. They moved the fridge, and after they left, I found a large crease in the front of my stainless steel refrigerator. When we called them back, they immediately claimed they did not do it. What's more, because though I had paid a damage waiver on the first move day, this next day move wasn't covered by that.

Mover's response:
Hi Kimberly,

We're sorry to hear that you are unsatisfied with our service, however there are a few things to mention here:

-Time is not a factor of how well/efficiently we get the job done. It is completely dependent on how much stuff you have to move and how close it is to your storage container. In this case, you did not have a lot of items that needed moving and your storage container was right outside of your garage.
-We never outright ask for tip. We only mention that it is possible to tip electronically on the Hireahelper.com invoice. Again, we have never asked for tips.
-Your husband walked throughout your house 5 times before saying that our job was completed. He called you to sign off on it, even. You both agreed we had completed our service.
-We agreed to come back the next day at a reduced rate because we felt it was right to come fix the error that was made, quite frankly on both sides (hence the discount).
-When your husband called to report the 'damage', I asked for pictures and for possible locations in your house that the fridge could have been damaged while we were moving it, none of which was provided. On top of that, the damage you claim that we are responsible for is on the front of your fridge when we used our equipment on the left side of the fridge (where there is no damage, I assume).

These two movers were absolute professionals and accomplished moving everything from our two U-Haul U-Boxes for our cross country move from Albany NY to Portland Oregon in the two hours allotted. We were able to shoehorn our two bedroom apartment’s furnishings into our new one bedroom apartment space and once we get the boxes unpacked it should be fine! We definitely recommend these movers!

What can a customer expect after booking with you?

Once a booking has been made you can expect a confirmation email and text, if we receive a response no later than the day PRECEEDING the date of the booking, we will follow up with questions about the specifics of the job, start address, end address, full or partial move-out, items of note, total travel distance...etc. After this, we will contact you 24-48 hours before your job is scheduled to confirm there are no last-minute changes, and we will see you for your service!

What can a customer expect on moving day if they hire you?

You will receive a text stating we are on our way to your starting location, and additional communication should any complications arise, including the nature of the issue, and how we plan to resolve it.

How should a customer prepare for moving day?

Remember that the more efficient your preparation, the faster our team will be able to complete your move! With that in mind, consolidate the items you'll want loaded onto your rental truck into as few rooms as possible, as close to the exit you think will be best to take them out from. If you are packing yourself, fuller, smaller boxes are typically a better idea than larger, emptier ones. The tighter the pack, the safer the pack! If you have children/pets sequester them outside the work area.

What types of moves have you handled?

Our founder has long experience with moving & storage, in every capacity from mover, to team lead, to driver, to supervisor before forming MoveMaker NorthWest and has handled mansion moves, and studio apartments with aplomb, professionalism, and a smile! Our team has been hand-picked and trained by himself, and his senior staff to carry on this story of excellence.

What's your favorite part about being a mover?

Moving is often one of the most stressful periods of someone's life, personal circumstances aside, the minutia of the process and the sheer volume of ALL the objects that make up our homes, the prospect of handling it alone can be a nightmare. I love feeling like I've come to the rescue for someone, and really made it a manageable, even enjoyable experience!

What training do you provide your crew members?

All crew members receive training from our senior staff and owners before their first move, from there they receive on-the-job training on the specifics of safe load/unload procedures, maneuvering around entry/exit ways, and how to move and work most efficiently on-site!
