This was an absolute nightmare and advise heavily against using this moving company.
Booked 3 guys for 3 hours, we had our own truck, to load from a storage facility (no stairs or elevators, direct to truck). They didn't bring moving blankets as requested/agreed. So one guy leaves for an hour leaving 2 guys without direction. When he finally returns, he has 4 small blankets. That's just the start of it though. Keep reading.
About 2/3's of the way loading our furniture into the moving truck the person in charge gets out a clipboard and said he was going to start a detailed invoice for the heavy items. What the heck are you talking about? Nobody said anything about this to us. We've used Hire-A-Helper multiple times, same furniture, never had anybody say anything of the sort.
One such item was a foot locker, regular sized trunk. Another was a dresser. He said those would be an additional $100 to move, each, and they were already in the truck. Then he started pointing out normal, average furniture that any household would have and said they would count as extra fees, as well. He told me to call the owner who said that Hire-A-Helper was supposed to tell us that. HAH said items that constitute extra fees are along the lines of a grand piano, or a gun safe, anything short of that is included with the move. After waiting for a call back from the owner and seeing the movers continue to move everything into the truck when we said we were not going to pay extra for a normal move, we are sweating it that whole time, and feeling at their mercy. He didn't return our call back or text. When everything was loaded, he did finally call back and said 8 items were identified as large and the charge is $800 but he doesn't want to do that to us so he asked us to meet him in the middle at $400. We vehemently disagreed and he relented saying he thinks only 2 items really constitute a charge so how about $200. We begrudgingly agreed to $100. Then, he asked us to pay the whole bill, including the $100 extortion, to his Cash App, not to Hire-A-Helper. On the trip to the house to unload we called Hire-A-Helper and they confirmed the additional charges were unfounded and to definitely not pay the bill through the guy's cash app. After they unloaded, we called HAH, completed payment over the phone, tipped the movers, and never heard back from the guy at 1st Move who was trying to extort money out of us.
Hire at your own risk. Beware of getting extorted and swindled.

The movers were very kind, but they charged me an extra $100 for the dresser, $100 for a king sized mattress, and $100 for an entryway table. They called these "oversized objects." They are normal, everyday things.
They also charged me $100 for a staircase. It was ONE step up to the sidewalk.
I'm furious that they charged me an extra $400.
I had no choice in the matter, they didn't review this beforehand or warn me. If I had known this, I would have found someone else or done it myself.
I feel extremely taken advantage of.

They not only showed up on time, we’re very communicative. Even though I only had two dudes it was like having a force of 4 or 5 guys. The owner spoke to me personally and canceled all appointments for that day because I needed them for more than two hours and made sure that my needs are met. Overall these dude are very hard workers and extremely friendly people. I would recommend them 1000%.

I scheduled 2 people for 3 hours at noon on a Sunday. Only one person showed but he was on time and got the first delivery done. Because only half my belongings arrived by Sunday, he returned the next day to unload the second delivery. I definitely recommend.
