Labor-Only vs. The Traditional Move

When most people think of a moving company, they picture a full-service crew that loads, drives, and unloads everything. This is known as local full-service.

Labor-only moving works differently. You handle the transportation—like a rental truck or PODS container—and we connect you with professional movers to load or unload your stuff.

While labor-only requires a bit more work on your end to coordinate all the details, it’s considerably less expensive.

Prefer hands-off? If you’d rather skip the driving and prioritize convenience, you can book a vetted full-service moving company right through HireAHelper.

The Cost of Moving in Santa Rosa, CA

In Santa Rosa labor-only moving help typically costs between $331.38 and $663.28.

If you’re tackling a smaller job, like unloading a PODS-style container, moving into a storage unit, or just need help with the heavy lifting, you can hire hourly moving labor for around $93.15 an hour.

The Cost of Labor-Only vs. Local-Full Service

Even after factoring in the cost of a rental truck, gas, and supplies, labor-only moving usually costs less than half of what you’d pay for local full-service. Full-service is definitely more convenient—but that convenience comes at a price.

The movers were prompt, friendly and professional. Got down to business and took care to move my heavy furniture up the stairs without scuffing the new paint, banisters or new flooring. 100% would use again.

Douglas and his team arrived a few minutes early and went right to work. They worked hard and did a great job of filling our rental truck. We were amazed at how efficient their packing of the truck was. They were polite and extremely careful with our belongings. We would definitely choose them in the future.

The moving company was flexible and worked with me and my time frame when the storage unit I'd ordered didn't arrive on time. When the two movers arrived to do the job, they worked quickly to pack everything up, treating things carefully so that nothing would be damaged. They did a good job and were respectful. I would use them again!

We were very happy with McLeod Moving. We moved across the country so we needed a lot of help with packing and loading the truck. Douglas, Joseph, and Brandon were fast, efficient, and courteous. They went above and beyond to get our truck loaded so we could get on the road. I highly recommend McLeod Moving.

The team arrived on time and immediately inquired where items were to be placed. Then surveyed the path into the house and where items were to be placed. Almost all the items were placed in garage and were stacked carefully. The unloading of our 16ft PODS took a little over an hour. Wasted no time worked efficiently.
