These guys really knew what they were doing. One of the movers was really good; the other was OK, but he listened to the other guy.
This Helpamover site was very well organized. I had a piece of furniture got some scratches, and the claim went very smooth.

Buyer Beware. AJ's never showed up. They called at 8:30, the time they were supposed to arrive, saying they would be about an hour late. Then at 9:30 I called and she said they'd be there at 10:00. At 10:30 I called and canceled. She said they had been calling me but, of course, there were no calls on my phone. I'll never call AJ's again.

The movers themselves (the two men that loaded the truck) were very good... once they finally arrived. Originally I requested, and the company accepted, a start time of noon on Saturday, May 10th. At about 11:30AM, I received a call from their office coordinator stating their previous job in the morning was larger than anticipated and that they'd be a little late, probably closer to 1PM. Later she called again and said it would be closer to 3PM. Another call and the time was moved to 5-6PM because they still were not finished with loading the previous job. She further explained that the earlier job that morning involved moving a 5 bedroom house, both loading and unloading it. At this point, we'd been waiting for nearly 5 hours already and we requested a reschedule until the following morning (Sunday, May 11th). The following morning, when I spoke the office coordinator, confirming that we were still on time for that day, she stated, "It's a good thing we rescheduled you. The movers weren't done with that job from yesterday until midnight!" There is really no way they didn't realize the morning of May 10th when they started at the earlier job that they were not going to be to my job until much later and they should have been honest during the first or second call about the situation. In addition, I was promised that they would contact U-haul (because they partner with U-haul) to get me a one-day credit for their overbooking of jobs which then necessitated that my job be put off for a full day which then made my long distance (over 1000 miles) move put off for a full day but this did not happen; I did not receive a credit from U-haul as promised and don't even know if they tried as I was not contacted by them again. I restate, the movers themselves were very good and got my job done (2 bedroom house loading onto a truck) in 2 hours and 45 minutes. However, even on the rescheduled move date they were 50 minutes late. I would only recommend them if you could be assured that you are their first job for the date scheduled or if you have flexibility in your moving schedule that allows for rescheduling should they overbook their jobs.

We hired 2 movers from AJ's Affordable Movers to unload a 14" rental truck which was filled completely, including some heavy oak furniture. We live out in the country in western NC where it is easy to take the wrong turn, which is what they did. They called us and we got them back on track. They arrived about 10 minutes late, but made up for it when they arrived. It took them only an hour to completely unload the Truck, then put some of it back on the truck securely tied down, so we could take it to a different location. They were careful with our stuff and placed it where ever a I asked them to.
