Overall, the job got done. However, the entire process was fraught with issues and stress. First, Almighty Moving called me two days before they were scheduled for the job and told me they could no longer take the job. They followed that up though by saying that they could do it one day earlier, if I gave them permission. This maneuver was sneaky as it took "Hire A Helper" out of the loop thereby removing much of the protections that you get by hiring through "Hire A Helper". I made the foolish decision to agree even though I expressed that I was having to meticulously pack the items in my home to ensure that everything would fit in the POD, and that I would not be completed packing if they arrived a day early. "Almighty" promised an extra man for the same price, and that they would help me pack. This is where the situation gets dicey. The movers showed up anxious to get to work and were not going to work in a manner that respected the aforementioned needs. They "packers" took nice bedding, towels, and pillows used them to wrap/pad whatever they could quickly shove into a box. Once they began moving furniture it was apparent that they had very little respect for my property as they flipped dressers, nightstands, and linen chests upside down and carried them out on their backs. Also, one of the men cornered me about halfway through the move to let me know that if I was planning on tipping now would be a good time and that I would need to give him the cash, not the leader assigned to the job, implying it would not be distributed to him in full.

With four men working simultaneously there was no way for me to capture each careless and reckless act, however, some glaring problems included the following:

1. Incorrect disassembly of dining room table.
2. ROLLING the dining room table out to the truck over concrete and pavement rather than asking another individual to assist.
3. stuffing lamp shades into boxes with rigid items that damaged the shades.
4. cramming book shelves that I had specifically ask that they treat with great care into the POD causing damage as they were improperly wrapped prior to packing.
5. Ignoring my requests to wrap certain items in plastic wrap.
6. Ignoring my requests to better pack the first 3rd of the larger POD.
7. Flipping night stands upside down, spewing contents throughout, over their backs in order for 1 man to carry them out rather than. keeping the item upright.
8. Cornering me to discuss gratuity.

Overall, I would not use Almighty Moving Labor again, and if I ever hire help through hireahelper.com I will make sure that no changes are made to the request by anyone other than hireahelper.com

The protections and services Hire A Helper provides are in place to protect Both the customer and the moving team and simply changing the moving date does Nothing to remove your "protections". In fact your agreement was adjusted IN HIRE A HELPER system and you paid thru them. Our guys work EXTREMELY hard and there are times when we need to adjust our schedule to allow the guys to rest. You stated you were understanding of that and were OK with rescheduling to a day early. This allowed them to get the needed rest for a few days. Next: Having inadequate packing/wrapping materials is bound to lead to damages so we try to work with whatever supplies YOU have provided and even though we bring a free row of stretch wrap, plastic alone DOES NOT protect pieces from being damaged. When you combine the lack of adequate supplies And (Per your own admission in conversation) you went back in the pods and shifted things around, there's a recipe for damages occurring. Additionally: We keep a small team so that a manager can personally be on site for most jobs and make sure things go as smoothly as possible. I provide my direct number for any questions or concerns before, during and after the job is complete. When you spoke with me the day of and afterwards, you never mentioned feeling uncomfortable with any statements made by a team member. We do our Very best to be sure that our team members understand our work and ethical standards. Whenever it is realized that there is someone that Doesn't align with our those standards, they are dismissed Immediately. This instance would have been no exception. We are very sorry that you were unhappy with your moving experience and I am personally still available if you have additional concerns. Wishing you the best. Carol - Contact Manager.

Our small family business greatly appreciates our customers and the amount of trust, time and effort it takes to choose us to help with your move. When you book our team you will receive a phone call to confirm your appointment and answer any questions you may have. What can a customer expect on moving day if they hire you?

On your moving date you will receive a call when our team is on their way to you. While we have an hour window for arrival our goal is to be as prompt as possible. If we see that a possible delay from your scheduled time will occur, we will contact you immediately to keep you informed. Our friendly team will arrive ready to work and get you moved as efficiently and safely as possible. Most of our customers are pleasantly Amazed at how well we get the job done. We look forward to meeting you!

How should a customer prepare for moving day?

The better you prepare before we arrive the faster your move will go. However, If you need packing assistance or moving tips please don't hesitate to call. Note: Quilted Moving Blankets are the key to better protecting your furniture pieces! Fully packed moving boxes and padding fragile pieces is important also. Please have extra supplies for moving day handy. Pods customers: If your containers arrive earlier or later than expected, don't worry, we will work with you!
