when first looking over some of the previous reviews I must admit -- I was a bit leery -- but boy did they come through -- ours was not easy -- the Pod was parked about a block away from our apartment home -- they made it work -- cheerful ... helpful ... cautious ... easy to take direction ... BBM -- all the way!

They showed up during the allotted 1 hour slot and were ready to go.
I only hired them to unload as this was a cross country move that included two 16' PODS and one 26' Moving Truck, so my experience is probably not typical.
I underestimated how much assistance I would need and they were able to accommodate me even though they had other commitments and brought in a second larger crew after the initial crew had to move on.
One of there crews was defiantly their A team while the other one was a B team. That's not necessarily bad or unusual but I think it reinforces that some responsibility lies with the customer to be very specific on what they need, what unusual issues they might expect and what the customer's expectations are.
VERY IMPORTANT...I used a similar matching service in my origination city and got royally screwed with unexpected BS charges, unacceptable "surcharges" and exaggerated fees. Big Boy Movers did not find new ways to increase there fees. If I hadn't underestimated the number of man hours I needed no additional costs would have been incurred other than what I already pre-paid. Their subsequent hourly rate was very fair.
I would use them again in a heartbeat.

Excellent excellent excellent! Peter & Jackson were so very helpful, patient with changes midstream & extremely hard workers. They were simply amazing as well as fun to work with. All my family said how awesome it was & will be calling Big Boy Movers for another moving job in two weeks. ??????????

Friendly, professional and strong enough to carry everything to the truck without dropping stuff along the way. Although they didn't actually carry everything all at once, they made multiple trips from the house to the truck; which is what I expected. I would definitely use these folks again!

The packing skills of these young boys was not the best. I had to unload my pod and repack 3/4 of it. I was able to fit 12 more wardrobe boxes and a big piece of furniture. I also was charged $35 for the plastic wrap that was not used. I did tip these boys $100 prior to the job hoping I would get more out of them. I asked them to move all the stuff out of my basement and when I went down....it was still there. I believe a monetary refund should be given. I should get my $100 tip and also another amount after. Not the best moving experience. If I get no refund I will be giving a review on Google. They were only here for 2 hours.

We had 4 guys helping us move and they were so great. We lived on the 3rd floor condo with no elevator. They were such troopers and moved us really fast. It was a three bedroom condo with over 70 boxes and lots of big, heavy and awkward furniture. They didn't complain at all and were so careful with our furniture. Our plans changed and they were able to help unload our uhaul into our storage unit. I loved this company so much that we will be hiring them again in November to move into our new house which is currently being built.

The crew was absolutely great, and accomplished what we preconceived as an impossible task, which was to get an upright piano to the second floor loft of our cabin. We were very appreciative of their work!

What can a customer expect after booking with you?
The customer can expect to receive a text confirming the date and time of the job. Through this communication they can also add any additional information that might be helpful such as: heavy items, long walks, specialty items, parking arrangements, etc.
What can a customer expect on moving day if they hire you?
The movers will be on-site within the arrival window given. They will then do a walkthrough of the premises in order to strategize best practices for your individual relocation. They will then go over paperwork and begin the move.
How should a customer prepare for moving day?
Any prep the customer does on their end will quicken the move saving the movers time and, in effect, the customer money. Prep may include: breaking down beds, emptying drawers, clearing a walkway throughout the house, etc. Of course if these things are not done before hand, the workers will willingly do them when they arrive.
What types of moves have you handled?
After so many years in the industry there is nothing we haven't seen. We've done something so small as moving a couple of pieces of furniture to another room to relocating five thousand pound printing presses across town. We've relocated customers from California to Maine and everywhere in between. We can provide packing materials, packing services, loading services, transportation, unloading services, and unpacking services. In short there's nothing we can't do in this industry.
What's your favorite part about being a mover?
The bet part of the job is seeing the relief in the customers' faces when they see that they don't have to move anything or stress about someone else moving their possessions. it always makes me smile when they visibly relax. Moving doesn't have to be stressful.
What training do you provide your crew members?
The onboarding process for our movers is extensive. Probably the part I like the best about our company is that 100% of our workers are referrals from workers we already have. That means the guys we hire are already vetted by our own employees who would never want to work with someone unreliable or lazy. In fact when we interview a person we already know what kind of work ethic and character he or she has after talking to the person that referred the potential worker. Our workers are as good as it gets.
