I had Big Boy movers help on two different occasions. The first two men that came were 5 star absolutely excellent in every way.

The second time one of the two workers came, he was doing a decent job by himself. Almost an hour later the second worker came, I wish I had asked him to leave. This was during the cornavirus situation. The second worker came in and said I needed to sign some paperwork. He washed his hands for less than 4 seconds. He was not at all up for the job, his co-worker kept asking if he was feeling ok. He was sweating through his shirt and just didn't look right. They were unloading boxes almost entirely. He set them on my very expensive furniture scratching the woods tops, set items dirty from the moving container on my white couch, scratched my walls and floors using a hand truck which I begged him not to., knocked over wood bedroom set putting big dents in it. My house was immaculate prior to this mover coming, there are now scratches and dings and scuffs everywhere. I wish I had not had them come. They set things clearly marked in the wrong rooms about 1/3 of the items. He then stood in my driveway when the job was complete and called the company to demand payment immediately into his bank account. In the last 30 minutes he reported his time to the company and his coworker 4 different ways each one higher than the first report. He seemed desperate for money.

I called the company they said a manager may call me back. Hire a Helper said I can fill out a damage claim form. Which I will. Many of my walls are 10 to 14 feet high. I do not really want a touch up paint mark, when they were beautiful before. Interested to see how they fix? It is very discouraging to have bought something so nice for myself finally and in 2 hours have a sick, inconsiderate, inept paid professional do so much damage.

The two guys who showed up were very inexperienced and unprofessional. They were nice enough, but one of them showed up almost 30 minutes late and they were frequently lollygagging and chatting while on the job. We also had a large couch that they “tried” to get into the house and they told me it didn’t fit. My mother-in-law and I decided to try it ourselves and got it in the house within 10 minutes the next day. Unfortunately, I would say don’t waste your money on their service.

Get To Know Us

What can a customer expect after booking with you?

The customer can expect to receive a text confirming the date and time of the job. Through this communication they can also add any additional information that might be helpful such as: heavy items, long walks, specialty items, parking arrangements, etc.

What can a customer expect on moving day if they hire you?

The movers will be on-site within the arrival window given. They will then do a walkthrough of the premises in order to strategize best practices for your individual relocation. They will then go over paperwork and begin the move.

How should a customer prepare for moving day?

Any prep the customer does on their end will quicken the move saving the movers time and, in effect, the customer money. Prep may include: breaking down beds, emptying drawers, clearing a walkway throughout the house, etc. Of course if these things are not done before hand, the workers will willingly do them when they arrive.

What types of moves have you handled?

After so many years in the industry there is nothing we haven't seen. We've done something so small as moving a couple of pieces of furniture to another room to relocating five thousand pound printing presses across town. We've relocated customers from California to Maine and everywhere in between. We can provide packing materials, packing services, loading services, transportation, unloading services, and unpacking services. In short there's nothing we can't do in this industry.

What's your favorite part about being a mover?

The bet part of the job is seeing the relief in the customers' faces when they see that they don't have to move anything or stress about someone else moving their possessions. it always makes me smile when they visibly relax. Moving doesn't have to be stressful.

What training do you provide your crew members?

The onboarding process for our movers is extensive. Probably the part I like the best about our company is that 100% of our workers are referrals from workers we already have. That means the guys we hire are already vetted by our own employees who would never want to work with someone unreliable or lazy. In fact when we interview a person we already know what kind of work ethic and character he or she has after talking to the person that referred the potential worker. Our workers are as good as it gets.
