The Cost of Hiring Movers in San Mateo, CA

On average, it costs $423.20 to hire moving helpers in San Mateo, CA. Your actual price will depend on how long your move takes—but across San Mateo, the typical hourly rate for moving labor is around $100.74.

These average costs reflect “labor-only” moves—where you hire movers to load or unload your rental truck, shipping container (like a PODS container), or storage unit. It’s one of the most cost-effective ways to move and is often far more affordable than hiring a full-service moving company—more on that below.

The Cost of Full-Service Moving

The average cost of a local full-service move in San Mateo, CA is $912.08, with an average hourly rate of $131.97. Full-service moves do cost more, but they come with serious convenience—you won’t need to rent a truck, drive it, or coordinate a shipping container.

Prefer the all-in-one, hands-off experience? Full-service might be your move. Here’s how it compares to labor-only options.

Jordan and Kalil were great. They reached out ahead of time, were prompt, polite, respectful and listened. Then they jumped into action. A Piano, a large exercise machine, took beds apart and packed that pod like you wouldn't believe. Still have half open. I will be having them back for part 2. Thanks guys! Susan

Very professional, hard working and experienced. They have all the right tools and materials and wrapped everything up nicely for protection. They also strapped things in the container at the end so they don’t shift. I live on the 3rd floor without an elevator, they carried everything downstairs quickly and gently, without a scratch.

WOW these guys did a great job making sure everything was safe and ready for the drive south. They were fast and efficient and knew how to place everything in the Container. They also resolved the issue with a leaky POD since it rained the day before I would definitely hire again and again

Those 2 men worked so very hard. Yes I would use those 2 men again, but my final destination is Los Angeles and I know I will have to hire different men for unloading my stuff. I'm sure your company will have more wonderful movers in the Los Angeles area.

Noah and his team are excellent. They work rapidly. They will do as much or as little packing as you need. His team communicates well, they are careful, friendly, efficient, and well coordinated. They crushed packing 2 full PODS in a few house and it was an incredible game of Tetris. Highly recommend.

They were very kind and responsive. Showed up and got to work. We had two Pod containers and they packed them so efficiently. Were we worried about room but they got everything in there, packed the right way and safely. I am a real estate agent and will be recommending them to my clients going forward. Thank you for the great job.
