First of all, the gentlemen you sent, yes I said gentlemen, were just great. They worked to get all the boxes and bags down three flights of steps and in the cargo van, over to the new apt and unloaded. They came back to get a few more things and were done in the original booking time of 2 hours. I booked 2 more hours because I did not think anyone could move that much stuff in the 2 hours, but they did. However, it would have been helpful had I been told if I rented a moving truck, they could have moved all of the apt, not just the boxes and packed bags. They would not take responsibility for the bookcases and small furniture with only a cargo van, which I do understand. I also originally asked if the men you sent would carry the boxes across the courtyard to the new apt and was told they could, but after talking to the men you sent, they said that was not the case and I would have had to spend time renting something at the last minute. I think all options available and what can be done and what can't should be explained at the initial contact. Again, the two men that came were excellent.

The movers arrived on time and worked non-stop in the heat for 3.5 hours, bringing heavy objects down one and two flights of stairs while doing minimal damage to the narrow staircase. I was afraid that one 16' would not be enough for everything we wanted to move, but the movers packed everything in tightly, which showed their experience. There was very little damage to anything when the pod arrived at our new house, thousands of miles away. I would highly recommend this company to anyone moving from New Jersey.

I have been moved by half a dozen professional moving companies over the past ten years, so I have a pretty good idea of what to expect. An item broken, a couple of dings and scratches - disappointing, but par for the course. This was the worst experience I have ever had. Initially we thought this company was great, as our landlord changed our move-out deadline halfway through our move, and they did hustle to get us out on time. However, they also arrived almost two hours late. I didn't care so much at the time, but they had been warned it was a big move and we were employing them for packing as well as moving, so in the end their tardiness really hurt us. Still, they told us they would stay as long as it took to do the job right. I was disappointed after they moved our things into a storage unit to discover that many things I had asked to be saved had been trashed, and that the storage unit was packed so poorly, but I was still grateful for the hustle after the deadline changed, and so I booked them to move us out of the storage unit and in to our new apartment as well. Once I started unpacking, I discovered many items missing and broken, and two pieces of furniture rendered totally unusable -- a beautiful, heavy desk that is completely unstable now because the brace to steady the legs is just missing, and a Lazyboy recliner that is bent out of shape such that the top of the chair no longer fits into the grooves between the arms. The owner of the company refused to call me back and finally e-mailed me to say that the items that were missing must have been taken by someone on the street when they were rushing to and from to get us out on time (untrue -- I saw the items in question in our storage unit before the second move and told him so), and that if I was unhappy with their service I should sue and he would see me in court. No apology, no offer to have the brace on the desk replaced or any of the broken items repaired, and no response to my questions. I give this company one star for packing some large fragile items very well and for hustle. I am sad to have about a half dozen items to re-frame, a few prints that are now totally beyond repair, a lamp that I loved just missing, dishes and other items broken, and two expensive pieces of furniture rendered unusable. I would never recommend this company to anyone.

Outstanding service! This is our second move in 6 mos and we requested the same crew because they were so great! I botched the move date and they were able to drive all the way from PA to NJ and load us in the evening (in the dark with just a flashlight!)

I think there might need to be a longer turnover between moving jobs, because the guys had a large job the day before. It was obvious that they were exhausted.

My crew worked extremely hard and were very careful . I couldn't believe how they loaded the container- right to the roof. They saved me from renting another pod . They were friendly and polite despite 100 degree heat. Also they showed up on time. Highly recommendef

The movers showed up on time. That's the good news. They were slow, weak, and inexperienced... and needed constant supervision. Kept checking their phones and taking calls. Kept wanting to take breaks ... Didn't know how to carry or pack ... Didn't have basic shrink wrap ... Never again with these guys.

Due to negligence and a refusal to use the furniture blankets provided the helpers damaged both properties in the move.

Our helpers were fantastic. They were punctual and worked non-stop for the entire two hours. They were prepared and treated our property respectfully. I would definitely use them again.

I would use these guys anytime! They kept us posted on their arrival time.
I don't think I've ever seen two nicer harder working fellows. They just about flew unloading and packing up my daughter's apartment and that was on the second floor on a hot day. They were very careful with her belongings and packed the PackRat so there wouldn't be any movement during the shipment.
All in all you can't go wrong using Rent a Helping Hand!
