I was satisfied with the work of unloading and putting a majority of our things in the correct rooms, however they did not provide for protection of floors or assembly of furniture as I had with previous helpers that have been contracted. It was not clear that this was expected that we provide that up front. They did arrive on time and were very respectful of our property.

I want to preface my review by saying I am giving 3 stars because the issue I had with my movers was resolved thanks to the boss, John, and with the help of HireAHelper customer support.
I completed most of my move myself but hired DMV Discount Moving and Cleaning for a few large/heavy items. They were scheduled to arrive between 12–1 and showed up at 12:50. They started loading quickly, which I appreciated since it was hourly, but no one introduced themselves, which felt odd. One mover (the younger one) was polite and friendly; the older one was cold and impatient.
The older mover said not everything would fit in my 10' U-Haul, even though all items were listed in my inventory (couch, 3 dressers, reptile cages, TV stand, display cabinet). I told them the TV stand could be left if needed, yet they loaded it and left the glass display cabinet behind. I asked about a second trip (just 10 minutes away) but was told they didn’t have time. The move finished around 2:15, and I paid for the two-hour minimum despite only getting ~1hr 15min of service due to their late arrival.
I asked again about retrieving the display cabinet. They called their boss, who said he'd follow up, but the movers left without updating me. I had to call Hire A Helper, and eventually, the older mover returned at 6:20 to finish. I had to extend my U-Haul rental and delay the rest of my move due to the confusion and poor communication.
Overall, the job was completed after a lot of back and forth. Nothing was broken and it was done quickly. Hire A Helper and DMV Discount Moving and Cleaning’s manager/boss were very helpful. I am sure that other movers, like the younger man who came yesterday, would lead to a better experience. Thanks again to John for helping me out and sorting the problem professionally :)

They showed up late. One worker left, had to wait for another to come. They didn’t have proper tools although I requested they bring them and they said they would.

The two men that moved me into my apartment rocked. They worked really efficiently and only took an hour to unload the pod. They were very friendly and helpful, and I would definitely recommend this crew to others.
