I must admit I was extremely disappointed with UCall. I was originally assigned another company with a good reputation. At the last minute, they were not available and I was assigned UCall. I would have appreciated a courtesy call to confirm the day before which I never got. My biggest concern was that I had an L-shaped desk with a hutch I got at Office Furniture Expo made by IFI that had to be meticulously assembled and was extremely heavy. I wanted to make sure the folks I was assigned had expertise in disassembling and reassembling same.

According to the Hire a Helper contract the movers were to show between 8 and 9 on Saturday. They were an hour late starting. The two gentlemen who showed up had good intentions but appeared somewhat lacking in experience. They told me they had been with the company only two weeks.

Although they made a valiant effort and worked hard, taking the furniture apart and moving it from Tucker to Norcross proved to be extremely difficult for them. What should have been a three or four hour job turned into eight! They did not even get out of Tucker until almost 2.

In the middle of all this I had a conversation with Rick the CEO and he said that since by using his men for more hours than planned I was cutting into another job I had to pay overtime of $80 per hour. There may be some fine print somewhere that says $80 but I would have really liked to have that communicated to me. No contract was signed, no pre-job phone conversation with the company was had before the job started. I can promise you that had I known that I would have never booked the job. I feel somewhat cheated.

Worst thing is, after two hours of attempting to put the furniture together, the two movers were not able to get the furniture together and it was still uncompleted. After 7 hours, I finally told the crew I would have to let them go and got a friend who is more knowledgeable in dealing with this type of furniture to fix it the following Monday, which he did with relatively little effort.

My question to Hire A Helper is: why did they tell me there were people competent to dismantle and reassemble office furniture if they weren't?

Today I received an email that the total overtime of 4 hours will cost me a total of $320. This is for a job that was half done.

Also, the hour delay cost ME extra time and expense in what has been a very frustrating move. As a minimum it would have been nice to get credited the hour of my time I lost waiting for people to show up.

Again, I do not fault the movers as much as I fault management-both with Hire a Helper and UHaul Ihaul. I was informed by Hire a Helper that there would be no problem getting workers who knew exactly how to move put-together office furniture like I had.

Bottom line: you have a seriously frustrated customer! In the future I think I will bypass the "fly by night" organizations and just go with a professional moving company. Because my time is valuable...and I just wasted a ton of it on Saturday 8/13/11.

As soon as the amount posts to American Express, I have already notified them of my intention of putting the charges into dispute.

Mover's response:
Art, this is defamation of my company's character and theft of services which are both criminal offenses! At no point did you call and complain about any of my movers performance, in fact when I spoke with U all was well! My movers successfully disassembled, loaded, unloaded and then reassembled the L-shaped desk and U were so pleased that U even tipped them. U can't have people perform a job and then use Amex to get your money back after the fact because that is illegal! Do the right thing!

My entire experience with UCALL was very pleasant. From confirming with Rick to working with Chad and Scott. All very professional and courteous. Although the scheduled timeframe for Chad and Scott to arrive was missed by two hours. The team communicated this delay and confirmed with me that it was okay. I would highly recommend this service and I'm sure that in the future I will call upon UCALL again and will specifically ask to work with Chad and Scott. It was brutally hot, late in the evening and difficult work, but that did not affect their professional work process which I appreciate.

Mover's response:
Rebecca, thanks for your excellent review and strong recommendation. We're humbled by your high praise of our organization, Chad, Scott and myself and want you to know that we're here when you need us! Rick K. owner

Rick who owns UCall/IHaul is a completely nightmare STEER CLEAR.

I knew something was wrong when he began harassing his own workers to begin calling me every 10 minutes about 10 minutes after they had left the job site, demanding payment.

My phone had lost power and the cigarette lighter in the Budget truck didn’t work so I had no way to phone in the auth for payment till the next day. The way Rick was acting, you’d think he hadn’t gotten paid in months.

When I phoned Rick the next day about payment, he said very sarcastically “Well you’re the star of the show” like I’d vanished off the face of the earth. I had something like 30 voicemail messages. He had apparently been calling his workers non stop.

His workers Kenny and Alonso were both absolutely lovely, extremely professional and polite guys, and did an excellent job on the move. They took perfect care of my belongings. I don’t know how they got mixed up with this nut bag, but they deserve better.

The only thing they did wrong is they accidentally left the dolly I had rented through Budget at my place of storage, which is a private residence in downtown Atlanta. I accepted partial responsibility since I should have also been looking out for it, but ICall/UHaul was paid about $300 for 4 hours, and they are professional movers so this was part of their job to put the dolly back on the truck.

The mistake caused me enormous angst because I had a curfew at the end of my moving day. I nearly lost my residence and had to put twice the mileage on the rental truck as I had expected, and pay for twice as much gas for a trip back downtown.

When I called Rick the next day to inform him of the issue, I made a very reasonable requested that UCall/Ihaul simplysplit the cost of the mileage/gas with me which was only $15.00.

Instead of thanking me for solving his company’s mistake and retrieving rental property I was responsible to return that night, Rick not only refused my request, he harassed me verbally, insisting I should have arranged that the movers should have been contacted at the very late hour I had had to race back downtown, and then that I should have convinced the owner of the private residence to open his home to these gentlemen for a second time that day, which he would never have been comfortable doing. This is his idea of customer service.

I contacted the company I had originally contracted with, Hire a Helper, to inform them of the situation, and they of course immediately agreed to refund me $15.00. I let Rick know the deal; he then threatened quote, “OK then we’re going to court.” Over $15.00. I laughed, said something like “good luck that,” and hung up.

I don’t normally write scathing reviews. I am generally a live and let live, good natured, nice person, but not when someone harasses, threatens and mistreats me or other really good people like Kenny and Alonso.

I would not recommend this group to anyone based on my own experiences. I am not sure the company objective is to help consumer or trying to charge more money by charging overtime hours. The company sent to my house 2 movers, and one of them is 400 lbs (no muscle) to load house hold items to the moving truck. The mover are very polite and nice, but he moves very slow, and barely can bend to pick up items or taking a lot of time to go up and down the stair cases. The house hold goods are packed and furniture’s are all dis-assembling (mostly ready and already moved to the garage except furniture’s). We planned to take about 3 hours to load (4 hours for max). It ends up taking 8 hours long to load.

Mover's response:
Amanda, you underbooked the time based on what you had and your move took a total of 4hours not 8 and my movers performed well until you accidentally cut one in the finger causing him to get 8 stitches. You guys weren't packed and ready and so when my guys first arrived they had to spend time wrapping and packing. Thanks anyway!

HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They showed up 2 hours late, and I found out that the manager was lying to me the whole time saying that the movers were in our neighborhood finishing a job. Also, they guys that showed up had next to no experience moving! One of the guys was decent but the other guy stood around the whole time drinking water. They scratched the floor, walls, the door frames, and broke our furniture. At 2 occasions, one of the guys went to his car and stayed there for 15 minutes at a time. They were only worried about how to get paid. They promised that they would stay until the job was done, but NO... they said they had to leave.
I STRONGLY WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE THIS COMPANY!!!! BIG WASTE OF MY MONEY!

Mover's response:
Jeni, I assure you that I didn't lie to you I did have a crew working in Suwanee that started @ 10am that morning that I had to do your move afterwards but that job went way over so I had to get other guys. My movers are experienced and if there is any truth to your claims why haven't I heard anything from you? I have two million dollars worth of insurance and can cover any damages caused by us. Recommendation against using our company is unfounded and wrong! My reviews speak for themselves
