Just John and his helper arrived on time. My truck was already partially loaded from a storage unit so they did not have much to load at the apartment.
They failed to secure a piece of furniture. It was a tall chest of drawers. Naturally if fell during the 30 minute ride and was badly damaged. I was shocked and quite disappointed. This is so basic in a move.
Just John stated he was sorry and should have checked up on his helper (who has been doing this with him for several months).
I saw no reason to obtain insurance as I did not have much to move - just need some muscle power and a little common sense.
I believe the concept of hire-a-helper is good and much needed. It is unfortunate I had a bad experience.

John's ability to lift heavy furniture by himself is quite remarkable - this guy is a competitive heavy weight-lifter and it shows! He was on-time and willing to start early on a weekend, which was great. He also has a very affordable rate. That said, a few pieces of furniture didn't make it out alive, so... average rating!

I would recommend Just John for your moving needs. I was unaware that he did not have a truck. He was on time and very courteous. His assistant was good as well. They continued to work until the job was complete. I would use them again in the future.

I live alone and just needed some muscle to move furniture up and down stairs...the guys were great, stayed busy and did everything the way I asked.

I was very pleased with John and would definitely hire him again. He showed up on time, worked hard, and was very polite. He's a big, strong, guy!I loved his "can-do" attitude, with getting dressers up narrow stairs and somehow finding a way to get an impossibly big sleeper sofa around a narrow corner into a back bedroom. Amazing. He had a 20' U-Haul totally emptied in 3 hours. Best of all, he did it "just" by himself and this proved much cheaper than quotes I got for hiring two people.

John worked hard on a brutally hot day. He's quite strong, and he moved heavy furniture down several flights of stairs. Note, though, that he is literally *just* John, which means that he expects you to pitch in and help with the larger items. Nothing wrong with that -- provided you understand that that is what you are getting. Because he is one guy, two hours can go by quickly. However, he works steadily and other than drinking a few glasses of water (it was nearly 100 degree and humid), he didn't stop. He's also quite nice, and he apologized for being slower than usual due to the heat, and he worked about 10 or 15 minutes past the official deadline for no extra charge. As long as you have a realistic sense of what you need and the time it will take, and provided you can help, he's a good choice.

John showed up on time, but had a pretty terrible attitude the entire time. He complained repeatedly throughout the time that he spent with me, rarely answered my questions when I asked them and instead just ignored me (and my wife for that matter), and got upset with me when I explained where I wanted him to move things. I

hired him and his helper for 2 hours of work, but at least half of that time was spent driving to and from a warehouse to pick up furniture. He complained about having to follow me to the warehouse in his car (which was only 20 min away, and he agreed to doing this a couple of days earlier). After spending over an hour just driving (and getting paid to sit there), he then complained that his two hours were almost up and he couldn't help finish the job, which consisted of merely moving a couple of nightstands and another box upstairs. This was especially disappointing because he told me that I was his only job for the day, so he clearly was capable of helping finish the job.

Also, he repeatedly bumped things into our walls, even when we asked him not to and pointed out that he was going to do so if he continued on his current path with furniture. After telling my wife it was impossible to move the furniture upstairs without hitting the walls, my wife and I pointed out an alternative route that would leave the walls unscathed. He followed that route instead and did not hit the walls. Overall, he was quite unprofessional, had a terrible attitude and no personality, and was much more careless than a mover should be.

On another note, his helper, Sanchez, was incredibly kind and helpful. He did not complain once, and went above and beyond what was expected of him. In my opinion, you'd be better off hiring Just Sanchez than Just John.

I recommend hiring someone else, especially someone with a personality and positive attitude. It'll make your overall moving experience much better.

John and his partner were absolutely fantastic! They were ON TIME, friendly (John always had a smile on his face and just has this cool, laid back calm demeanor), hard-working and made the whole chaotic mess/stress of a move just so much easier to deal with.

I would advise everyone to not even bother looking elsewhere for moving assistance... just schedule John and leave those worries behind.
