These guys were amazing! They worked very hard and were able to fit everything in the container (which I thought would never fit), Even in temperatures of over 100 degrees, they never stopped working. They were extremely polite and I would recommend your firm to anyone that was moving. Thank you so much!

Overall, Big Boy Movers was a Big disappointment. This was the first time we had hired movers and so really didn’t know what to expect. Big Boy was a last minute alternate as our first choice didn’t respond to the request through Hired Helpers and our move date was only a few days away. So really, we were kind of stuck with Big Boy without having a chance to thoroughly vet them beforehand.
Our moving scenario was that Big Boy would help us load up a Uhaul in AZ, then we’d drive to our final destination where other movers would help us unload and put away. We paid the same hourly rate to both sets of movers and so we wanted to see how both performed before writing this review. I’ll preface that we understand unloading is easier than loading and so have kept that in mind with our judgement; however, the difference between the 2 was night and day. It was literally the equivalent of an NFL Team playing against a Pee-wee football squad without a coach. I’ll describe in detail.
First of all, Big Boy sent us movers that we could tell right away, had little to no experience on the job and looked like they had just graduated high school. Nice boys, but all 3 of them were so new that they didn’t even know where to start. They couldn’t even get the Uhaul latch undone without being shown how. After an hour of little-to-no progress being made, my husband had to get involved if we wanted to get the truck loaded this decade. It ended up taking almost double the time we had originally planned on, furniture was broken (which we still haven’t heard back from them about), the Uhaul was poorly packed, my husband nearly had heat exhaustion, and the worst part was, there was still a lot left to be done. We just didn’t want to keep them on the clock as they had clearly run out of steam and weren’t adding any value. One of the kids was laying on our floor talking on his phone at that point. We ended up having to have friends and family come help us finish the next morning so that we could keep to our schedule.
Now, contrast that to the movers at our destination, who, without any guidance had a third of the truck unloaded before my husband even got out of bed to come see if they needed help (we were staying at a nearby hotel). They proceeded to unload everything quickly, knew exactly how to get large items through a door (without damage), were experts in putting together furniture, and, most importantly, finished on time. They even knew how to operate a Uhaul latch ??.
I could go on and on detailing all the differences between the 2 but I think you get the point: stay away from Big Boy Movers. There are much, much better alternatives out there for the same price. Do your research.

We hired two movers to help us move furniture into our newly finished basement. They also helped us move all our storage bins into the basement. One of the movers had an engineering background and was able to make everything fit! They came on time and completed our job in half the time we expected. I plan to use them again. Seriously, these are two of the best movers I've ever had. Thank you Big Boy Movers!

These guys were one hour late and very unprofessional. They broke a piece of furniture and Had the nerve to laugh about it !! I might also add there insurance coverage for accidents like that is a joke I was told by there manager that they pay for damages by the pound and the 300$ piece of furniture that they destroyed was worth only 30$ reimbursement. Absolutely recommend you stay clear of Big Boy Movers !!!! I would like to warn people about them and how unprofessional there managers are if you need a moving company go somewhere else other than Hire A Helper and Big boy movers !!!!!!!

What can a customer expect after booking with you?
The customer can expect to receive a text confirming the date and time of the job. Through this communication they can also add any additional information that might be helpful such as: heavy items, long walks, specialty items, parking arrangements, etc.
What can a customer expect on moving day if they hire you?
The movers will be on-site within the arrival window given. They will then do a walkthrough of the premises in order to strategize best practices for your individual relocation. They will then go over paperwork and begin the move.
How should a customer prepare for moving day?
Any prep the customer does on their end will quicken the move saving the movers time and, in effect, the customer money. Prep may include: breaking down beds, emptying drawers, clearing a walkway throughout the house, etc. Of course if these things are not done before hand, the workers will willingly do them when they arrive.
What types of moves have you handled?
After so many years in the industry there is nothing we haven't seen. We've done something so small as moving a couple of pieces of furniture to another room to relocating five thousand pound printing presses across town. We've relocated customers from California to Maine and everywhere in between. We can provide packing materials, packing services, loading services, transportation, unloading services, and unpacking services. In short there's nothing we can't do in this industry.
What's your favorite part about being a mover?
The bet part of the job is seeing the relief in the customers' faces when they see that they don't have to move anything or stress about someone else moving their possessions. it always makes me smile when they visibly relax. Moving doesn't have to be stressful.
What training do you provide your crew members?
The onboarding process for our movers is extensive. Probably the part I like the best about our company is that 100% of our workers are referrals from workers we already have. That means the guys we hire are already vetted by our own employees who would never want to work with someone unreliable or lazy. In fact when we interview a person we already know what kind of work ethic and character he or she has after talking to the person that referred the potential worker. Our workers are as good as it gets.
