Tore my meniscus ligament in my knee, and my mom is older...had always moved myself in and this was my first experience in hiring movers after many moves throughout my life. Hired Allstar Movers because of their number of reviews and PRICE. Could not have been happier with the way things went. We moved everything into a UHaul and brought it to my new Chicago apartment. The two movers came and were very kind and fast. When I gave them water and offered to let them use the restroom it was nothing but please and thank yous. They brought things in swiftly like I said and I tipped them at the end. Would hire again in a heart beat after the wonderful job they did.

Move was completed within the time frame estimated. Movers arrived 30 mins past their arrival window, and one of them smelled very very strongly of alcohol. They did not wear masks. They also said they were not vaccinated. That’s fine, but then wear a mask please. Left their water bottles on the street. Pods changed my delivery date, and even though that was not my fault, they still charged me a cancellation fee of $80 just for changing the date. No damage to furniture or walls, which was appreciated.

I hired movers for 3 hours to load a pods container. They were supposed to send two workers on 11/8 in the morning. I get a call the night before saying that my team has COVID, but that they would send another team in the afternoon. In the afternoon, I get a call asking if they can send a team on the morning of 11/9. I agree because it was getting late. In the meantime, I asked if the team would bring tools and plastic wrap and was told that they had all these and were skilled movers.
In the morning, two kids show up with zero supplies and appears to have zero experience in loading. They did not even have tools to disassemble a bed. Since they had nothing, the owner, Ray, suggests that the kids go buy supplies at Home Depot. I agree and they take 40 minutes to get plastic wrap and blankets which I paid for. We also noticed that after they came back from Home Depot, they were just sitting in the car in front of my house. They noticed that we were looking at them so they came in started work.
They did move two bedroom sets, dining set, and some assorted furniture down and into the pods container. However, they just loaded all the furniture with huge empty space at the top, and their wrapping job was horrible. They didn’t load half of the stuff we wanted to move. Then they claimed it was 3 hours after less than two hours actually working and they left without even letting me know they were leaving. I told them the contract allowed a per hours charge per hour over 3 hours, but they didn’t seem interested. However, I didn’t want them anymore because they didn’t seem to know what they were doing.
The worse part is that the company said it wanted to make things right and that the owner would come around 2pm to help finish the job. But, at around 2pm, they called me and say he won’t make it until 5pm, so I spend the afternoon with my wife wrapping and loading and waiting. Around 5 I get a call asking if they can come in the morning. It was getting dark and my pod was scheduled to be picked up in the morning, so I had to call a friend and we did it ourselves in the dark. It was horrible.
This was one of the worst days of my life. I hope I never hear the name Allstar Movers or your company again. This was straight out of a horror movie. I’m a senior citizen with a bad back. This is going to give me PTSD. Moving is stressful already and they made it ten times worse.
