Very respectful guys, were hired last minute. It was great that they showed up at the crack of dawn, as I knew they actually had to drive almost 2 hours to do the job! They worked hard and got the job done well, and very quickly.

I called days ahead to arrange a time for their service. I wrote, when I was trying to find a mover, that they should bring plastic wrap (since it was listed as "optional" provided when requested), and a list of all the items to be moved. It was agreed upon that they would come at noon. I was moving long distance (5 states away) so time constraint and connections were an issue). They called at 12:40pm to let me know that they would be late. A call ahead of time would have been enormously helpful. They told me to expect them within an hour. After confirming where they were located, I questioned the length of time it would take, and told them it would take more than an hour. More likely 1 1/2. And they agreed. (It would have been very helpful if they would be truthful and told me in advance, their time of ETA). They arrived at 4pm! 4 hours later than what they original agreed upon (nearly 2 hours since the 2nd ETA). Neil came with 2 other guys. I had hired 2 movers for 4 hours. So they did send an extra person. The 2 guys that came with Neil were courteous and helpful. But they weren't in charge. Neil was. They came with no plastic wrap. They asked for tape. I had to send my elderly father to get 4 rolls of tape. They came not equipped. So, 1/2 hour later, we provided these movers with tape. They made a huge scratch in my pre-engineered wood floors on the landing of my stairs. (Only way to "fix" this will be to remove strips of flooring and have them replaced, but the match would not be exact. A very costly mistake. Pre-engineered wood floors are very hard, so it takes a lot to scratch them). They were quick and finished in 2 hours. So technically (since they sent an extra person), they owed me an extra hour. Which I would have used to move items out of the house into the garage for "junking" at a later date. But they acted very sullen, dark and gave the "silent" treatment, as if they did the job they came for, (moving furniture and things into a PODS), and anything else, was not within the parameter of things to be done. But I ask: weren't they hired for moving? So moving things (furniture) into a garage area (to consolidate all items to be trashed) part of "moving"? I have to hire another group to junk the last items (which probably would have taken them 1/2 to 45 minutes more time).
I have used HireAHelper when I moved from Florida (I was supplied with Sebastian Movers) and they were fantastic: courteous, helpful, enormously respectful and equipped with moving material (plastic wrap).
I would/will not hire Affordable Moving again. And due to this experience, I will be very cautious with my next choice of hiring through HireAHelper. I'll give them 1 star for FINALLY showing up (if showing up should be given a star, and I was basically in their mercy, a very aggravating situation to be in when you are trying to move, especially many miles away, single woman with a young girl and 2 elderly adults), and 1 star for their efficiency.
