I don't want to leave a bad review but I decided to for the sake of warning others because Elite Moving (EM) was not good. The only reason its not 1 star is because the movers did actually show up and did the job well enough. EM was rated so highly on Hire a Helper (HaH), and I definitely didn't receive that level of service. I normally hire cheap movers but this time I decided to splurge a bit and hire EM, the best rated movers on Hire a Helper, thinking I'd be set. Sadly, that did not happen.

Here are the many things wrong with my experience (sorry for the long post, there really were that many issues):

2 days before the move, EM contacted Hire a Helper to change my move time, which had been set in stone for 1 month, from 12-1 PM to 2-3 PM. HaH then sent me a REQUEST, ASKING if it would be alright to change the move time or if I needed to keep the original time. The key word there is request. Obviously, because I had other things scheduled and because my new place needed me to pick up keys before they closed at 5, I said no to the request (Assuming they arrived at 3, if they took 90-120 min to load everything, I wouldn't be able to pick up keys in time.) The next day, HaH then said they needed to cancel my movers because EM couldn't accommodate my new time and there were no other movers on such short notice. So, since I needed help and since the request wasn't actually a request but a way to force me to accept the new time, I had to cave and accept their new time. Ironically, on the day of the actual move, EM called me and said "Can we arrive at your original time?". I said no because obviously I wasn't prepared for the original time since it was FORCEFULLY changed to be 2 hours later.

When the movers eventually did arrive, they sent me two movers that only spoke Spanish. I don't speak Spanish, I never asked for Spanish speaking mover and I have no idea why they sent Spanish speaking movers to help someone that can only speak English. This essentially made it so that I couldn't communicate with my movers effectively, which obviously is a GIGANTIC ISSUE! I had to get by with Google translate and even that didn't work that well.

Normally, that by itself would be enough to warrant a three-star review but they weren't done being horrible. The movers also arrived at the job site with their own gigantic moving truck. Deja Vu. I didn't request a moving truck from them and I didnt pay for a moving truck from them. I was told that I would have to get a truck myself and that I was only hiring movers. So I got my own truck and when they showed up to the job site with their own truck, I was very surprised and confused. I asked them why they brought another truck but of course, because they couldn't speak English much at all, they had to call their office and essentially ask for someone's help translating between Spanish and English. During that conversation, it was implied to me that it didn't matter which truck I used, I could use either their truck or my truck and would not be charged extra either way. Since their truck was bigger, I decided it would probably be best to use theirs. They loaded the truck and then drove to the unloading site. During my drive to the unloading site, I was contacted by EM and was told that I wasn't allowed to use their truck and that I would have to be charged for the use of their truck. I told them no, that I did not consent to that because I was told that I could use their truck without being charged extra. They then said that they would need to speak to a manager and confirm if I was going to be charged or not. I was never called back. Humorously, the EM rep told me the movers were only given the truck for transportation to the job. Who in the world gives a 20 foot long truck to people to only use as transportation? That sounds like a blatant lie.

At the moving site when I got there, I did not see them at my apartment. I looked all around the area and I could not find them. I called EM to get confirmation on where the movers were and the first time I called them, I heard the phone answer and then was immediately hung up on. I then called again and was placed on hold for about 3 to 5 minutes immediately after the call was answered. I hung up and then called them again and was again placed on hold immediately after the phone picked up. During that time, luckily I saw the movers on the other side of the apartment complex, and was able to get them to start unloading my stuff.

The movers themselves were not horrible but they would frequently take items that were meant for two people, like a gigantic 5 ft long table, and decide to only have one person bring it to the truck. This would frequently resulted in them running into walls or door frames, damaging both the frame and my furniture.

I would highly recommend Elite Moving. They were on time, friendly and extremely hard workers. I needed a 16 ft PackRat container emptied and they had it done within 2 hours.if you're looking for moving assistance, go with Elite!!!

These guys showed up and hustled their butts off. Unloaded 2 massive 16' pods that were filled to the brim and did it fast and safe.

I've never seen people work so hard or so fast with no complaints, even though it was 115 degrees!

Could not recommend any higher!

Two younger gentlemen arrived on time and really worked hard. The two older gentlemen arrived 1.5 hours late, but still worked hard…..overall, they all did a great job

Friendly, efficient, nice energy, and did a great job. I can’t believe they fit all that stuff into the container! They packed everything very nicely and neatly. Would recommend and use them again.

Two young guys arrived at 9am. I was a bit skeptical at first, but they quickly changed my perception! The two young men were fantastic and did all the work exactly as I asked them to do. They were very careful in moving the furniture down the stairs and did not damage anything. I could not be more pleased with the service and would highly recommend this company!

Horrible customer service & horrible all around. The movers were late, the movers lied, they dropped several loads of boxes tipped several loads that they loaded too high on their dolly onto the concrete. I'll be lucky if anything was not broken. Then their car from Sonoma Mexico "broke down" in my storage unit's locked gate and they kept insisting for my password to get out. They wouldn't put their dolly back in their vehicle. They told me their car battery was dead and they needed a jump start. They borrowed some nice guy's portable jumper and acted like it didn't work, I came over and turned it on correctly and they disconnected it right away and gave it back said it didn't work. The only way I could get them to leave was to get my mom to bring jumper cables and jump start their car which started instantly not like car dead battery. Then they wouldn't leave the gate until both our vehicles were behind them and the manager of the storage and I told them firmly to get out. They tried to stay behind and get back in & made me late getting the U-Haul back with all their lies and lollygagging. They called me several times early the next morning and when I called customer service they made no apologies and said that's what I "get for rescheduling twice with no fee and I'm lucky they showed at all" and she hung up on me. I had things out of my control getting to the unload and they did reschedule after I was begging them to be humane because I couldn't afford to pay them twice. Well, I still paid way more in late return on the U-Haul because of those workers trying to stay in my storage units locked gate area and it put me on bad record with my new storage since I had to get the manager to help me get them to leave.
