I move about every 2-3 years for work and have figured out how to box, pack and get everything ready for movers. This is the first time I ever had movers who were incompetent and literally walked off the job.
Chris & Gil showed up and started the move @ 11:30am Saturday, April 30th. They were working at a less than enthusiastic pace; slowly. At 12:15pm Chris told me they were waiting on news from their boss on how to move the media cabinet as he said it was too big & heavy. This same cabinet has been moved a half-dozen times by two people and a dolly.
They said they couldn’t move the other items because they were running out of room and didn’t know how to proceed. Maybe their boss would come help and maybe not. After 20 minutes they said they would not be able to move it.
They followed me to my new address and we arrived at 1:10pm. On the way I had called All-Star Movers office to confirm we lost 20 minutes as they waited for instructions and that we would be able to unload easily as the new location was on the ground floor, next to the truck with no stairs. The supervisor was less than friendly and collaborative, saying maybe the cabinet was too heavy and the movers were going to leave after their 2 hour commitment at 1:30pm.
Again, as they unloaded they again were moving at a slow pace, bringing in small items and asking where to place them. I told them to not worry and just bring everything in and I’d arrange from the front door.
At 1:40pm Chris informed me that his boss told him he had to leave the job and go to another. The truck was still more than half full, with the couch still unmoved. They left and I called HireaHelper and he apologized and said he could get another mover for $309. I moved the remainder of the truck by myself.
This was a job made simple; I packed and stacked everything for ease of move. No other moving company or contractor over the years ever showed this lack of effort, disrespect and cutting out before the job was done.
I am asking for a complete refund for inadequate services, services not rendered and quitting the job before completion.

Great group! The guys I had helped me move from my apartment when the elevator was shut down, the air wouldn’t work, and the stairs/Chicago hallways are tiny! They also agreed to stay an extra hour because I needed more help than I knew. Thank you!!!!

They were terrific. On time, worked very hard , had the equipment needed , very helpful , polite , and honest. Defenitely will use them again when we move into the next house. They went above and beyond.
